Kii have just informed that they are posting the first batch of my Kii 'controls' ( the new remote for the Kii THREE speaker ) early next week.
The 'control' turns the Kii Three into a properly self contained system, just add the sources either analogue or digital of your choice.

The first batch of Kii 'controls' ,the remote for the Kii THREE are on their way ,should be here in a day or so!
More to follow...

Literally just arrived the new Kii 'control' the remote for the Kii THREE loudspeaker.

It is very smart a sort 'blued' steel colour, although it is made from aluminium,

Just to answer a couple of questions, the new remote has to be physically connected to your Kii speakers, by the 'Kii link' ( rj45 cable), if it is inconvenient to have the cable trailing from the 'control' across the floor, you can use any Infra-red remote to control ,volume, mute and source selection to control the 'control'.
I use the neat Apple remote here, so the control could be left near to the Kii themselves after you have configured the loudspeakers.

This remote seems like a after thought to me, why not build this functionality into the original speaker and have the option of remote control via a smartphone / tablet app?

It's more like a external control box, it has more things in common with a pre amp rather than what one would consider a 'remote control'.

I'd think supplying it with a true remote control ( you would use from your sofa etc) would of been wise.

Yes an app to control everything would be nice, I don't think that has been ruled out , one of the issues with a relatively small loudspeaker is the location and number of inputs, the 'control' doubles as a beak-out box enabling you to connnect three more sources to the THREEs.
Grimm used a similar system with their LS1's.
In practise it works really well , and as I write this my system consists of my MacBook, the Kii 'control' and the Kii THREES themselves very neat.

Yea, once you get your head round it not really being a remote in the common sense it seems to offer excellent connectivity. Wont faze pro audio guys but might confuse domestic customers.

Still a plain box that clips on the back of the speaker and a app would be worth considering imo

The high tech, cutting edge design vibe of the kii three is somewhat at odds with a big physical wired remote.. Can't argue with its functionality but it's not that smart in terms of brand and such. It's like they got caught between two ideas, a remote control and a control/extra connectivity device . It goes against the 'lifestyle ' ideal of the product , being wired. It might work but it's a own goal imo.

Looks nice, without all the wires stuck in it lol

Anyway, what do I know :)

As I said you need something to add extra connectivity, this isn't an issue with a physical larger speaker such as the Beolab 90's.
The Kii THREEs have only one XLR input ,although it can be either digital or analogue.
If you have a few sources, ( just watching the rugby at the moment ,sound via the Kii's ) plugging and in-plugging is a pain.
Once you have set your parameters and configured your presets you can use a traditional remote , I use the Apple to control the 'control'.
Kii users can now sell their preamps, DACs ,digital interfaces etc etc.

For me personally it would work well, I'd happily have it stuck on top of my CDP and say good bye to my amps and pre amp.. Like you say control volume with a additional simple remote.

I don't think the 'phone/tablet' app has been totally discounted, the Mol-Mola preamp is already controlled by an app,

Keith, have you experimented with diffrent coupling/ decoupling devices under the controller ? Stillpoints/ black ravioli blu tack and the like? :D

I'd recommend bolting the controller down into a bamboo plinth ...

I think a whole new performance envelope awaits you..

But of course, I really need to talk to my dealer though to be swindled out of a few thousand pounds then I can rest easy.
