Since you are running room correction, there shouldn't be a huge difference between (open ports plus room correction) and (plugged or semi plugged ports plus room correction), provided that run room correction for each scenario.

The plugs are more meant for applications where there's no room correction to make up for placement too close to a room boundary.

Can't help with your question about full range correction. I tend to run room correction below about 500hz. Perhaps time for some experimentation?!

Last thing, but this is purely aesthetical, I'm not liking the brown grille on the R6. I wanted it in walnut because having a glossy speaker below a big TV is not my idea of a good time but... the brown grille attracts my attention when listening to music. I have asked KEF if they sell just the grille in black. The grilles are really nice, it's just the color that maybe is too nice... :-D

Funny thing, I had the same dilemma about gloss black vs walnut.

I ended up going with black; I didn't like the pinkish hue of the drivers on the walnut model. Surprisingly visual reflection hasn't been much of an issue in my setup.

I actually don't really like the grilles, but need them due to others in the house... But the black ones do look better than the brown ones.
