KEF R3 Meta - Review & Measurements by Erin

By traffic, ASR is the 5th or 6th most visited Hi-Fi forum worldwide, FYI. I think it even went to 4th position back in 2022 (same traffic as HeadFi, but behind AVS).

Encouraging but 99% of people out there still believes expensive cables improves sound quality and signature. Snake oil audio is still here to stay. I think distortion measurement w/ 80hz crossover was cool because (and somebody's gonna ultra disagree with me) such speakers shouldn't be used without a sub.

Same for info on 10 degrees off axis. I want measurements correlated to how I'd actually use the speaker.

so the R3 have the same narrow directivity as R3M? i thinked the R3M has wider directivity
In the thread with the Kef representative answering questions on the white paper they said there was no change to driver or waveguide geometry that would change dispersion, so it would be the same.

but they changed the crossover point.. that was the '' wider '' dispersion?
if im not wrong the ref1meta has a bit wider directivity, now it's 50° instead of 40° or im lost?
Should they sound identical then?The directivity of the R3 and R3 Meta is almost identical, from the white paper:

With my front 3 being Kef Reference, I had R3 as side surrounds (80Hz crossover). For the longest time I wanted to upgrade my side surrounds to used non-Meta Reference 1s. I ended up with the R3 Meta instead, and I couldn’t be happier.

No, both their on- and off-axis responses are different as it can be seen in the same plot (plus the distortions which cannot be seen in a spinorama).
