Again IS is benefiting from current £ to $.
In UK it was 850 now is 1400

R2C is narrow and tall but there is magic thing called blue tack that sticks stuff like glue with a difference you can take it off later and leaves no traces, besides it would be going into space where there are no people walking nearby.
Debating this, benefit being its narrow and twitter would be at ear level plus not needing to sell R2C, or getting current R3 - have got some character stands if flipped upside down twitter ear level as well and it would be 100-200 cheaper. Seems R3 has got lower distortion.
Current exchange rates are irrelevant. The R8 have not increased by 65% as you stated.

I am aware of blue tack. Seems to me you know it all so why pose questions. Just to argue?

Oh, and it’s “tweeter” NOT “twitter”.

The r3 meta says tax included on the site and when I looked at the website of the r3 on the way back machine it didn't say tax included so if you add 20% tax to £1300 so you get £1560.

If you put €1560 into an inflation calculator £2044.47 which is actually more than the r3 metas price of £1900.

The original us price of $2000 in 2018 for the r3 should now be $2360 after inflation which is also higher than the price of the r3 meta which is $2200

Again in UK yes R8a did increase 65% - don’t know what you’re trying to achieve arguing simple fact. You don’t need to be obnoxious, you don’t fancy replying to add some value to discussion then don’t. You basically avoided replying to simple question trying instead to poke holes.

There is the possibility that some people might not think box shaped speakers ugly. I mean it's a far fetched hypothesis, but there must be some excuse for why so many companies continue to produce box shaped speakers even though many enlightened internet commentators try to help them get rid of this habit.
It is cheaper!

There will be a white paper released soon, including spinorama data. The engineering team are still finishing it off.

That's great to know - appreciate your engagement with this thread (and apologies if anything was inadvertently released ahead of schedule). Like a few on here, have been debating whether to take a deal on the old R series or go for the Meta but with little to inform that decision beyond health of bank balance so far. However, my wife has now fallen for the looks of the R7 titanium SE, so the decision may well be made for me!

Oh, and please don't update your architectural speakers any time soon, as just bought several in-walls for heights and surrounds ;)

After reading this thread i wonder; Will i be able to hear a difference between the old r3's and the meta's listening on low to mid volume 56 years old.
There may be differences beyond the meta material & driver&waveguide tweaks.
The LS50 was tuned a bit different vs the LS50 meta in terms of crossover design.

All that said & just guessing here - I think it will be minor improvements. Maybe keep your $.

That is enough as I see it as it can't just be about getting original R customers to upgrade to meta, rather more toward just keeping on improving a solid line.

I am curious though myself. I liked the R3 for someone else. 5/5 speaker but I deff preferred some others for myself. I am curious though of course as a speaker addict.

Plus that blue R3 (indigo) is quite striking to me.

Went to Best Buy today and sale rep offer me a pair of open box R3 for $1250. They say they are trying to get rid of the R3 in anticipation of the Meta. Just wondering if this a good deal. Anyone else having any luck finding great deal on R3?

They are $1600 to $1700 everywhere else, so I would say that is a good deal.

Yes, as long as the condition is great and the R3 is what you want then that deal is solid IMO.

I don't think you will get it for less unless it is a scratch and dent or other less desired condition.

The $1700 price @Steve Dallas mentioned is new, not open box. Bestbuy online in excellent is about $1500.
www.accessories4less.com has refurbs for $1499 but that might drop once the R3meta is actually in stock there (I believe $1350 has been a refub price recently there)

$1250 sure seems decent enough.

To me, the new version is a totally different sounding speaker from paper already, shifting 70hz (400 vs 330hz)more to the more “directional” midrange should be obviously audible in real world in terms of sound stage accuracy, even though measurements on axis won’t show a difference. But off axis, I bet the new one should have a more slanting slope starting now from 330hz.

Even if it didn’t had meta material, this crossover change alone would sound different as physically the midrange and woofers don’t lie in the horizontal axis. Either the old driver had this capability or they should have done the needed improvement to handle this Change.

Babies arrived!
No Dirac calibration, no fiddling with positioning yet, slight toe in, 15 degrees maybe, initial reaction?
They improve depth of the soundstage over ls50 meta very noticeably. Whole presentation screams to me this is it
Shadow flare now is fixed, no movement, and slightly sticking out.
R6 will listen to later today.
