Hi

I'm set on Kef Q meta series, but still a question regarding the two.
I already have a Kef Kube 12, so bass is not a big concern. Q Concerto Meta is smaller (which is a plus for me), but will need to be on stands, so basically both will occupy the same space.
The left speaker will be quite close to wall (30cm to the side and 50cm to the back). Main usage will be home theatre and casual listening

Any suggestions?
Also eyeing used Genelec 8040B. Should I take that over kef for LCR?

Thanks

What are the room dimensions?

From memory I recall KEF suggest at least 50cm from the side wall, but I’d need to check for the two you mention. If that might cause boominess then the smaller Concerto might be easier to accommodate.

It is a "weird" shape living room (almost L shape) that connect to the kitchen and hall. So it is very spacious and limited at the same time, the left speaker will in the corner and the right will be in the open. I had quite boomy bass with my Focal Aria 948 but it is also much bigger.
Erin mentioned that Q11 Meta works better (than Polk R700) if it is closer to the wall. i suppose Q7 is even better in that matter.

Yes, my memory served correctly, but the manual shows use of the port bungs if you need the closer proximity. Not an obvious choice, but the left one might be ‘bunged’ while the right one could be unhindered!

look at the p.i.r.'s from each and check for a response "knee" in the 50-100 hz region... if the speakers has the "knee" it will be better than a speaker without the "knee" close to the wall , the reverse is generally true away from the wall...

Yeah Erin shows that in his comparison between q11 meta and r700.

How's your ceiling? I have a typical 230cm height ceiling, and could only listen to the Q7 Meta for a few months before I found something aggravating. Muddy, or, some kind of lack of clarity that I couldn't get rid of even after aggressively cutting the bass. Just wasn't right. After inspecting the measurements more closely, I noticed huge ceiling bounce right in the midrange.

It's 260cm. I didn't notice such thing with my 948. Only boomy bass. It reduced significantly if I cut off at 40Hz

I have Q11 Meta and the mid range doesn't seem great to me either, sort of "hashy". This is in my family room that has a vaulted ceiling over the listening position.

I had a very similar experience to yours! Upper midrange was weird and abrasive. My ceiling is approx 280cm and coved. I thought I was crazy because on paper the q7 meta is pretty top notch, and many people seem super pleased with it.

When I moved them to a smaller more traditionally shaped room they sounded amazing.

Oh! I'm in the same situation. I have the Kube 12b and consider the Q Concerto Meta as an alternative. Did you decide on anything in the end?
I am also looking at the AE300 and maybe the Monitor Audio Silver 100 7G.

I ordered Concerto Meta yesterday. Already ordered SQ1 stands so. if anything they could become my surround speakers.
