Anyone has advice on the reasons why the KEF Q550s sound muffled in my 5.1 HT setup? I just don’t seem to be able to get clear dialogs…

Set up: X4800H, Audyssey, “Flat” curve setting
- F/L: KEF Q550
- Center: KEF Q6
- Surrounds: Genelec 8010
- SW: KEF 10b MIE
Screen is next to a big glass window (on the left side), watching position in against the naked back wall 3m away, & there is a large glass coffee table in front of the sofa. Carpet on the floor and 11’ ceiling.

By contrast in my other HT (2.1 with L/R Genelec 8030s and Dynaudio 18S) similar setup (room size, seating position), dialog clarity is noticeably better (and bass miles better, but this is clearly due to the SW quality).

Asking for a friend…

Wishing all ASR fans a Happy new year !

Audyssey, “Flat” curve setting

Is this the same for both systems? DSP used above room mode frequencies can make sound muffled or closed.

THank you for your question.
- 2.1 system does not use Audyssey.
- 2.1 Set up: TV=>SMSL D6S dac=>Dynaudio 18S=> 8030s; note 18S has DSP for time alignment; I do not use its EQ features.

Does it sound muffled if you deactivate Audyssey?

Also you are saying you don't get clear dialog, which typically comes from the center. So is it the Q6 that is muffled?

Thank you for your questions!
1/ I will deactivate Audyssey and report back (I am away from home right now).
2/ I had not thought of that, I guess that is an important point.
Truly thank you for your insightful questions!
