KEF Q Meta is Coming

Strangely, my memory (though I might be mistaken as I only listened to it while doing other things) of the review is that he said in multiple ways at multiple times that the Q1 was very output limited.
I'm specifically referring to where he compared the Q1 to the Emotiva and Klipsch speakers, where that wasn't brought up at all.

all the price become silly in computer , ssd , sd card .... the next its hifi

you cannot buy only one its par :p
Hifi uses chips so old it does not matter. The shortage is with new NAND chips for DDR5 RAM. New devices will be affected but amp and dac are very unlikely. Speakers? It will be fine except maybe due to tariff in US
I know it is pair just put price per piece for easier comparison.

I recently purchased some Q4 Meta and Q1 Meta speakers for use as surrounds and was interested to see the label on the speakers said ‘Made in Thailand’.

I then checked the Concerto Meta and Q6 Meta I bought earlier in the year, they are also made in Thailand. For some reason I had thought the speakers were made in China.

Just curious more than anything how long KEF have been manufacturing in Thailand? Are other lines are also made there? I am located in Australia. Do units sold in the USA also come from Thailand?
manufacturing , made in is the last operation , all can be made in china but the last screw or the package in thailand

china cost more and more for man , and made in china become bad
many companies are moving out of China, at least, some capacity, to avoid tariff war.
wage in China also increased over years making it not so good option as in 2000. Vietnam, India, Bangladesh are the emerging labor market now, if they can, they will

you joke ? condenser , capacitor , cooper double price .. 'rare' earth to make speeker

silver price x3 to x4 in 6 month

the most skyrocketed price in last few months was RAM, due to AI "bubble" (or whatever it is). Easily x3 x4 in prices for DDR5.
silver and gold increased in price was because of uncertainty in world politics. Trust in USD has been degrading so they are the natural "safe haven" for assets.
other than that, not much outside of inflations and of course, corporates' greed. You can worry all you like, but I don't see any sharp spikes in prices for speakers or Hifi components in near future. If things get worse, much worse, Hifi will likely be the first thing people stop buying.

Fair enough, I just thought it was already clear from the main section that a very obvious weakness of the Q1 was limited output.

What I would love from Erin is him finding the time to release the data from other speakers he measured and are still behind his patreon. :p

Moving on, here's a fun measurement thing.

This is a two way, the crossover is at 2100 Hz, and as we can see, the harmonic distortion of the tweeter unit is very well controlled.

Here is the Multitone distorsion, this is not nearly as neat in the treble range, can anyone more versed than me in driver design tell us what limitations would make a driver behave like this? Especially since the tweeter has a high pass filter cut at a pedestrian frequency.

we think different on 2000 dollars computer if your memory go 100 to 200 or 300 the final price is 2300 and less because mother price will shut down

in hifi its the bas material go up 10 % 20 % 30 % from 1000 to 1500 ... psu go up , the rocket price can be easy worth in hifi

the up of silver is much more complex than fear , it will impact all electronic

This is common on 2-way coaxial designs without a dedicated bass driver. Since the woofer is also the waveguide for the tweeter, large excursions like what you're getting at 96dB don't just negatively affect the output of the woofer but also the tweeter. This is why I don't really care for small, 2-way coaxial designs (though for nearfield and/or low-level listening it's probably fine). If I was going with a coaxial design, a 3-way with a woofer separate from the coax driver (so the coax only handles the mids and highs) would be mandatory.

By your logic, how many gr of silver is in, say a loudspeaker, an amp, a dac, a avr? And how will it affect the price if silver price is double??? (Assume it can be double at this point. Market cap is already 5T$.

The RAM price skyrocketed because everyone is rushing to build data center for AI. OpenAI, Gg, Microsoft, Meta,... all the companies with the biggest wallets in the world. Who will pay for the (assumedly) increased price of electronics if silver price increase???

Jumped the wagon, and ordered Q6 meta + a pair of Q8 meta. I missed the sale for Q Concerto Meta so I will wait for a little bit more, but will probably be 4 x of them.

Or 2x q7 meta and 2x q4 meta
snatched a pair of Q concerto meta from Netherlands. My Q6 is waiting for fulfillment but with luck I might get the Satin white version from hidden-audio

I registered my KEF on kef.com today as I would get additional warranty. I did not think much about it, expecting the default 2y warranty + 1 additional year. To my surprise I got 6 years so my speakers will be covered until 2032.
Now there is not much in a passive speaker to be broken. But it is indeed a very nice thing to have, especially if I want to sell mine in 3-4 years.

I just logged in, all of my warranties have been extended to 2031. I registered about a year ago, very nice Kef!
