KEF Q Meta is Coming

Lol, I just watched that video and he basically un-sold me on a set of the Q11 Meta towers(which I am assuming will use the same concentric tweeter/mid driver as the Q Concerto) because of his comments about their falling high frequency response and their use in a larger, more open room like my family room. But I really need Erin to review the Q11 Meta because perhaps they will perform differently in the high end than the Q Concerto.
All 3-way Q Meta models use the same Uni-Q and similar tuning (I have the Q7 Meta which I deliberately chose over the 11 which I wanted to buy initially), but that is nothing that a (P)EQ cannot fix if you like a bit hotter treble.

Thanks, I apologize if you already explained it, but I'm just curious why you opted for the Q7 over the Q11?

No worries, as I had written earlier in this thread due to its more continuous vertical directivity and since in my room and listening distance I don't need the extra 3 dB max SPL the Q11 would provide.

The white paper is out for this range now
Unbelievable preference scores for the floorstanders for the cost if you like that kind of thing!

Looks like it's been out there for a couple of months. Ignore this guy.

This range looks quite impressive on Spinorama.org. Q11 Meta pair for 2.2k USD and measuring like this is ridiculously good.

Tonality: 6.9

Bass extension: 31Hz

Flatness: ±1.8dB

Also the Q7 Meta which I recently bought because of the data in that paper isn't much worse plus offers better vertical directivity and even significantly lower price:

Tonality: 6.83

Bass extension: 32Hz

Flatness: ±2.1dB

Their spins are extremely similar and the Q7 has a even a tad more bass between 35 and 70 Hz:

I've had the Q7 and Q6 center for a little while now, and really appreciate this thread and the info provided. Helped me solidify my decision to go with these speakers. Merry Christmas!

Edit: I went with the Q7 over the Q11 solely based on the depth difference between the two speakers to give them more space off the front wall and only sitting 11-12ft away.

Dang, this data is what I've been looking for. I was thinking Q11 but now I don't really see how it's any better for me than the Q7 Meta.

Thank you, really interesting! First I was confused searching for the Q7 Meta as they used the wrong picture (probably R7 or so) for this model. ;)

Based on the data the Q7 Meta would also be my pick of the range. @thewas: will you post your listening impressions (or did you already)?

Happy christmas everyone! :)

I did post my first measurements and listening impressions here:
I really enjoy them daily for many hours now during the holidays.
Happy Christmas too! :)

I am happy you're enjoying them! I have the Reference 5s in a similar config. The Q11s would have been perfectly fine also.

Anyone else having a sharp roll off in the high frequencies after about 2000hz? I picked up a Q7 Meta yesterday. Maybe it's the Christmas tree!

Dead tweeter(s), loose wire. Measure them individually.

When I have time I’m going to dem the q 3 meta’s against my Revel M16’s . Any guesses on what the outcome will be?
Hi, any update of the comparison to revel m16 ? would love to hear your opinion

Has anyone been able to compare the Q650c to the Q6 Meta?

The q650c in my listening space is definitely on the bright side, and when correcting full range in Dirac, other seating locations have mentioned that the sound is dull. If possible I would like to only EQ up to 500hz.

The Q6 Meta seems to have a much better measurement overall, but then, that begs the question, is this "better measurement" really worth the $600 investment vs. what Dirac can do to the Q650c?
