KEF LS60 Wireless Just Announced

it does not need to be wifi i use ethernet to my speakers ( and almost anything else non mobile and stationary )
Oh, I just meant it's not that simple to use a wired LAN connection with your phone, although I bet you could do it with an adapter...

Ah yeah the speakers can be on Ethernet :) but the phone ?? , awkward but you don't need to see the speaker you can be close to where the wifi is when adjusting settings it just needs to be the same network after initial setup.

Some pro speakers like better JBL has a tiny display with access to settings on the back , to be completely independent on any existing infrastructure from other parties ( except the power grid ) or dip switches

Can’t wait to have ls60 delivered next week. Got a deal could not refuse (£3k) even though I am quite happy with my KEF r7 meta.
I believe they don’t fail much at all, as mentioned here they restricted output quite a bit even though they would be capable of more, hence I was able to get 6 year warranty on open box (normally only 12 months, only master opened box speakers as they shipped two masters to a client accidentally).

That’s the ex-vat price, retailers must be literally giving them away.

Anyone have a thought on the LS60 vs R3 meta in a second smaller room setup primary for TV / movies? For the R3 I do have a spare Rythmik F12SE, but the simplicity of the LS60 setup is appealing to me. Downside is it would be a PIA to add a center to the LS60s if I wanted to do multi-channel movies and of course the risk of the electronics breaking.

My wife and I looked at these and the LS50W today. She was leaning towards the LS60 until we noticed that the speaker has omitted volume control on the device which is a deal breaker for her. Is there something that we could add to the LS60 that would provide a physical volume control?

It has a remote

I in fact have never used the remote as I stream my music and every streaming app has a volume control, as does the KEF Connect app.

It'd be a mistake to opt for the 50s instead of the 60s for such a small detail. As others have already said you can control volume either by remote or whatever app you're streaming from. I've had both.

At KEF Global’s YouTube page, KEF LS60 owners can learn from 10 newly posted step-by-step short videos how to set their speakers to meet various situations. For example:

No usecase for me. Standard remote is enough for me.

I (and my wife) use the remote.

It's probably worth mentioning that very few good active speakers have handy volume knobs, and almost no passive speakers do.

If you must have an actual volume knob you might try streaming from a WiiM Ultra to another WiiM connected to the LS60, but I suggest trying the remote first... :)

We do not use a remote (or a cell phone).

Never heard of a passive speaker that does (but you never know!)
We run all of our stuff through a pair of Apt/Holman Pre Amps (because we have that many different formats), which have volume control knobs
In a tri-amped system.
We listen all over inside & outside the house by simply turning the volume up.
Neither one of us can sit still long enough to do what is called "critical listening".
Yes, we can exceed the volume level of our tolerance level inside the house but have that capability so that we can listen while outside the house.

I'm considering purchase of Revel f228BE vs KEF LS60's. Both are well regarded. Anyone think one is much better than the other?

The revel is twice as expensive and passive. So with amp and streamer probably 3x more expensive.

The LS60 is a great all in one package, I love the sound. Adding a good subwoofer is easy and will improve headroom and bass depth/impact. Great preference score also.

I think any opinions you get will be biased. You should hear them in person. If that is not possible, evaluate their differences.

I own the LS60s and I have not heard the f228BEs. Here is why I chose the LS60s (which does not necessarily mean that you should):

1. The LS60s are all active.

- This provides the advantage of not needing separate components.
- There are no passive crossovers. The woofers are directly connected to their own amplifier in each speaker, minimizing the damping factor. This provides very tight bass.

2. The LS60s use a concentric midrange/tweeter driver. This provides better vertical dispersion characteristics - the tone does not change much when your ears are off axis.

3. Each LS60 has four 130mm (5.25") woofers, each with 6.5mm peak excursion. Together, four 130mm woofers have about 40% greater piston surface area than two 8" woofers. But, the 8" woofers probably have more excursion. I don't know what is their excursion, but it probably is a wash.

4. The LS60s extend a bit lower in frequency; 26 Hz vs 33 Hz @ -6dB.

5. The LS60s are very narrow, which worked out well for where I wanted to place them.

Here is the SPINorama comparison:

I appreciate all the replies. I know some of this can be subjective. I have been trying to audition these speakers but very few dealers have even one of these, let alone both for comparison. I found a used pair of LS 60s for about $2.5 K. There is an auction for the Revels on Ebay. Not sure what the bid will go to. I see that Amirm has very high praise for the Revel's. If the Revel's are heads and tails better than the KEF's, it's worth it to me to spend an additional $1.5 K, but if the difference is subtle I'm probably like most people and would rather pocket the difference. I have lots of places for speakers so I may end up with both the KEF's and the Revel's but only if the Revel's are much better. I will have the opportunity to audition the Revel Performa 3 F206 next week. If anyone is interested I can give my personal opinion but I'm far from an expert.

My current setup is Goldenear Triton 5's with an SVS 2000 pro sealed sub. Powered with a used Denon AVR 4400H. I stream Tidal to the amp via Bubble UPnP alternating with Wiim Ultra and Wiim mini depending upon which room I am in. I think the sound is very good. I don't think I have a super critical ear. Just enjoy music a relatively low volumes.

Yet I think my system could sound a little better so I'm looking for some new speakers to try.
I did build the Solstice DIY kit. Those speakers are also good. They are much different than the Goldenears, but I like them both. The Solstice have punchier base. The Goldenears have a different character. More lifelike? Hard to describe. But they so something the Solstice does not do, and I think I like them a bit better. Hoping I like the KEF LS60's even more.
