KEF LS50W with Unison for ARC only?

Purchased some used LS50w V1’s a few months ago. Have a Unison streamer I don’t use anymore as the DTS Play or whatever software on it had constant dropouts.

Can I use it only for ARC room correction somehow with the LS50 wireless speakers?

Trying to think how I’d hook them up since the LS50w have built in streaming functionality and amp.

Besides network input, the LS50W also has USB, Aux, and Toslink input.

As long as your Unison can output in one of these formats and you can feed audio into the Unison, you're good to go.

The one thing you cannot do is stream directly to the LS50W, but still use the Unison for room correction.

Assume the same woudl be the case for a device like this one if I wanted to experiemnt with DIRAC instead?

Yes. As long as you stream directly to the KEF from your media player of choice, you are limited to the DSP that's built into the media player or the KEF Home App.

If neither of these offer the DSP that you want, then you have no choice but to stream to an external Streamer which can host your desired DSP, then feed its output into the KEF using Aux or SPDIF.

To add Dirac to the LS50W but keep streaming functionality, here are a few options I can think of:

• WiiM Mini->Optical->miniDSP DDRC-24->RCA to Aux->LS50W.
  Price: $540
  Cons: Two boxes, unnecessary DA->AD conversion will add some noise
• WiiM Mini->Optical->miniDSP Flex Digital->Optical->LS50W.
  Price: $789
  Con: Two boxes
• miniDSP SHD Studio->Optical->LS50W.
  Price: $950

I guess a BlueSound Node device could also fall into the single solution given it has DIRAC now? I wonder if WiiM will ever include that sort of "optional" functionality, they're doing such great things on the streamer side!
