KEF LS50 Wireless II (or LS Luxe) vs my current LS50 meta + Lyngdorf TDAI-3400

HI Folks,

I've being thinking recently about getting rid of all the cables etc, mainly because I have a chimney breast between speakers and currently running cable not in very nice way.

I currently running KEF LS50 Meta with Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 with room perfect and 2 subwoofers, one of them connected wirelessly and another wired (REL T5x).
I like sound etc, however I've being thinking recently about getting rid of all the cables etc, mainly because I have a chimney breast between speakers and currently running cable not in very nice way.

So I'm thinking about getting KEF LS50 Wireless 2 or even new LS Luxe (but no measurements, so not sure about them yet). The only thing is I don't know how to get room correction with them. I don't want to keep my Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 just for streaming and RP. It is shame Lyngdorf doesn’t sell just RP module separately.

What do you guys think how to overcome this, Obvious choice would be to get something like Wiim pro, but I'm not sure how good room correction is on that or maybe something from MINIDPS flex line, but it is significantly more expensive.

Also, since majority of room correction is done in bass domain anyway I think maybe it is just worth upgrading subs to something from SVS instead and use their DSP for room correction?

PS. Not sure why KEF is not including room correction in their wireless speakers line...

WiiM Pro has no Sub out, you'd need the WiiM Ultra for that.

Personally, I'd do WiiM Ultra->SPDIF->KEF, and WiiM Ultra->Sub out->Subs

PEQ when used well is very effective.

WiiM can't do Stereo subs but that's not an issue IMO as subwoofers are best used in Mono anyway.

For starters I'd just connect both subs to the WiiM's single Sub port with a y-splitter and see how you get on with it.

If you want, you could plug a miniDSP 2x4HD into the WiiM's Sub port and use Multi Sub Optimizer to integrate them.

Still cost-effective, but lots of manual calibration required for the best results.

If that's less your shtick, then you could buy a NAD C 658 or Onkyo P-80 and let DLBC handle the room correction, multi sub optimization, and sub integration for you.

Room correction vs. room correction vs. room correction... I think we mostly agree that in almost all cases, to get excellent low frequency response you need some form of room correction. Where we diverge is whether to go with RoomPerfect, Dirac ART, Trinnov, basic Dirac, or some other low cost bass management solution.

I recently had to reduce my system footprint. I went with D&D8Cs with their cardiod bass and integrated subs and room correction. The sound is phenomenal and the only outboard equipment needed is a network. I retired a rack of amps and my Lyngdorf MP40 and hundreds of feet of wiring for the tri-amped system.

Thanks, I was thinking to connect something like that:
Wiim pro=>SPDIF=>Kef

Then connect for example SVS subs directly to KEF
I think Kef has crossover settings which are adjustable and delays/phase can (?) be adjusted on SVS DSP via their app.

So I'd connect them, run MSO to match delays/phase and then run room correction from Wiim on top.

PS. I really don't understand why Kef didn't built in some sort of room correction or PEQ at least. I don't believe DSP there is so weak that can't support it.

When you factor in no subs, pre-amp, amp, etc... they are actually less costly than you think. I agree the sweet spot is vertically more limited than some speakers, but I tend to do my listening when seated so that isn't a problem for me.

Just found this thread. We have a common interest in systems with the minimum amount of boxes.

My experience so far is that getting speakers with amps in them save a lot of wires and boxes.
For example my desktop system only has 2 Genelec G3 (same as 8030 but with rca and xlr), 1 Genelec sub and a Wiim ultra streamer as preamp/eq/streamer. Imo this is mostly for smaller rooms.

If you want just 2 full range coaxial speakers for a medium sized 4 by 5 m room I'd look at the 8351.

One other option is going wireless with WISA. For example the mesanovic 65 has this capability (tested here on Asr) and a wisa capable preamp. Pair it with a wisa capable subwoofer (or one with a wisa receiver) and you're done.

Remember that the kefs need a wire between them for maximum sound quality. And room correction probably means more cables.

I would say that your current setup will sound better because of dual subs and room correction. And I personally love the simplicity of the Lyngdorf room correction.
