Hi everyone,

I've been using the subwoofer for a couple of months now, performance wise I love this small box but it has so much problems, at least that's my experience.
I created this thread in hope to get some more experiences of different users and maybe somebody can help me out with my issues.

It doesn't seem that I'm the only person who has problems with this sub, let me start with my list:

1. rattling noise from the subwoofer at lower frequencies - roughly ~ 30 - 50 Hz:
There is some serious rattling and it's extremely annoying. I ordered my first unit a couple of months ago and I noticed the rattling straight away. I thought that my unit is defective but when I started to search via google I learned that several users have this problem and KEF seems to have a really bad quality control.

It's a known issue, when I contacted KEF they refused the repair and told me that I to return it to shop where I bought it (which I did). After about 6 weeks they replaced the driver and the rattling noise was almost gone but I still could hear it slightly. About 4 weeks later the whole subwoofer didn't work anymore. The orange LED was blinking and there was no more sound.

So I contacted the shop again and they sent me a completely new unit a few days ago. Surprise, the new unit has the rattling problem again and it's even worse!

2. standby at moderate volume (found a solution)
2nd big issue and also reported by several users. The sub goes into standby although music is playing, I have the same issue. I bought the new WiiM Amp Ultra and the sub is connected via RCA (mono). If I listen to music and it's not overly loud the sub goes into sleep mode and only gets waken up if the music includes lower frequencies and has a certain amount of volume.

For example if I listen to Jazz, there are quite a few songs which start without any "bass" and after 1 or 2 minutes lower frequencies occur, now you can hear that the sub gets "activated".
Problem I have a High-Pass Filter at about 120Hz and my KEF LS50 Meta only play above this frequency. They sound "thin" if the subwoofer doesn't support them earlier and only gets activated if there is some real bass.

Solution in combination with the WiiM Amp Ultra: Set the level of the sub output in the app at about 10 dB and turn down the "volume knob" on the KC62. It fixed the problem in my case even at really low volume!

It would be really nice if owners of a KC62 would take the time and test their model. I linked the 35 Hz test tone, there is a whole playlist, 30 - 50 Hz produces a pretty noticeable rattling in my case and did it also occur with my first KC62 whicht got replaced.
I will contact KEF again and ask for a replacement. To me it sounds like screws are not tightened correctly, I don't know but it's really annoying!
Just bad luck in my case?

Enough complaining, thank you in advance!

A little hack, maybe it's useful for somebody. There is a way to switch off standby:
If you switch 5 times (really fast) the "Phase switch" it turns off standby (double ringing sound), do it again (one ringing sound) and you turn it on again.
