Hello everyone,

I have a pair of KEF IQ3 Speakers and lately one of them was damaged because of feedback.
I would like to try to repair it but I don't have much experience in the field so I was hoping to get some help from the people here.
Ideally I would be able to find the necessary spare parts and go to a local repair cafe where they could help me with the repair.
I made a short recording comparing the damaged speaker with the healthy one. You can listen to it here: https://on.soundcloud.com/vgbCtXLFLMWFheoE7. I can imagine that the problem is with the cone.

Thank you for your help,
Omer

To me it sounds like the woofer is damaged. Very gently push in on the woofer of the GOOD speaker to get a sense of how to push it in without causing the voice coil to rub. Once you get a sense for how the good woofer feels, then very gently push in on the woofer in the bad speaker to feel if there is any rubbing of the voice coil in the magnet gap structure. If so, you need a new driver.

If the woofer feels fine, then open up the speaker and look at the crossover to see if any of the capacitors visually look bad (e.g., puffed out, leaking electrolytic fluid, etc.).
