First of all, congratulations on this deal. I bet it's a big thing for both companies. I hardly think anyone needs to hear me say it, I do have respect and high regards for KEF products, but here, I think they maybe went one step to far.

This is an interior of a Lotus vehicle. It sports the KEF driver visible and, once again, with no grills, above the door handle. Sure the looks are out of this world and they obviously didn't put the grill for this very reason. The first magnesium aluminum KEF driver I had, I dented with the lightest touch while flicking of a speck of dust. Still, I defended it, I always said that the use of the product doesn't imply touching the driver at all.

For me, it's hard to defend it here, because it's "in the way". It's asking for it. It's in the busy place, sooner or later you'll do it unintentionally. I can totally understand the "well, your kids, pets, cleaning habits, etc. are not our concern, it's not meant for those". I mean, OK, fine. But in this case it is you who is putting it in 'harms way'. (Not actual harm, of course.)

Super cool! Focal has a rich history of automotive aftermarket parts. I would definitely consider aftermarket KEF speakers if there were drop in replacements. I am not commuting as much this year compared to other past years but there was a time where I was spending much more time listening to music and radio in the car that the home by as much as 10:1.

Lotus Emira

The KEF Premium Audio System features a 10 channel 560w audio system which includes three KEF Uni-Q speakers and a fresh air subwoofer.

Low-volume OEM makes sense for Kef, and I'm sure the system will sound good.

But honestly, Lotus has been a disaster for going on six decades and their new direction like Jaguar is a huge gamble. I'm sure Kef will be fine but just having the association is negative...

KEF had a car audio line too. They also licensed their name and some tech to Coustic. Those had blue cones.

I still have a couple of British-made KEF KAR 160Qs and 690Qs in the collection. These were Uni-Qs with (I believe) the same tweeter as the then-current Reference line and really nice cast baskets, as well as crossovers with clear covers and fancy-looking inductors. The first correspondence I ever had with Andrew Jones was related to these speakers. That was fortuitous - I emailed the general KEF tech support address about T/S parameters for the 160Q and he replied. This was maybe 1994? He wasn’t as well known then. At least, teenaged me didn’t know who he was.

As an audio fan, but a car lover first, I must say that I hate that.
I'm totally dissapointed where Lotus cars are heading on, to be just another brand of sports car. Any audio system in a Lotus is a missconception.

Now please add those to the home line!
This!!

I wanted to say that even if they found a way to produce it as an accessory adjustable for home speakers, that could be in high demand.
