I think so, I've wondered if an LS50 meta driver crossed over in the 150-200Hz range would be the best of both worlds

That's not too far off from the old Soundfield Audio Monitor 1. Baffle not as sophisticated and drive unit an earlier version (taken from Q100 - still a very good drive unit) but basically Uni-Q crossed over to a powered 8" woofer at 150ish Hz if memory serves.

That said, I was on Team Coax from ca. 1996 - 2017, between KEF (+Soundfeld), Tannoy, and Pioneer EX (baby TAD). Then I heard the JBL 7-series...

My brain is just wired for 3 way. Always felt something off using a two way far field, even if they measure well. probably an illusion of mine.
