Because of size constrains only a Toroidal transformer would fit replacing the EI core. Currently its being switched by a G3MB-202P and i read that Toroids don't like triacs and have an audible hum with it. A Toroid would fit into the same place as the current potted EI pcb trafo. Would it make sense to switch to a Mosfet SSR?

Read this.

Your current SSR appears to be of the zero cross variety, rather than the random fire variant recommended for large inductive loads, and may not have the recommended snubber either. So you would have to pick a new SSR either way, and make sure it can handle the inrush current as well.

I would at least contemplate the idea of shunting the SSR with a traditional relay, making suret that the relay comes in last and drops first.

I would like to but there is just not enough room for a normal relay. With the toroid transformer mounted there would be a 40x55x25mm space left under the IEC 320 connector. I don't see any issues with a low amperage SSR as the transformer would be only 50W with an NTC Thermistor, its on me for not clarifying wattage in the first place.
