Kali LP-UNF Disappointed(Faulty unit?)

Hello everyone,

After hearing all the praise about the KALI LP-UNF monitors and doing thorough research I decided to purchase them as my first stereo setup. I decided to get myself a UMIK-1 and perform some speaker measurements, and I am now comparing my in-room measurements with other measurements people have posted online. My measurements do not remotely match the flatness that I expected. Could I be doing something wrong or have received a faulty unit? Some additional information: I am sitting about 80cm away from the speakers, equilateral triangle, ears on tweeter's axis. I will attach an in-room measurement bellow (1/6 smoothing, average of 2 single point measurements)

In-room measurements won’t match nearfield measurements. As you move your mic as close as possible to the speaker (<1 inch) you will get the flatter response you expect.
 
The flat response you are expecting is an anechoic response - only the direct output from the speaker. Your in-room measurement is a mixture of the direct sound and the reflected sounds from the surfaces in your room. Depending on the frequency and the distance to the boundary the reflections can increase or decrease the response - search for SBIR (speaker boundary interference response) if you want to know the details. Monitors like the LP-UNF have switches that apply EQ to roughly compensate for placement-related frequency response variations like these. The room resonance modes are another source of deviation, which is where EQ for room correction comes in.

If you want to measure the speakers' anechoic response at home you need to use a mixture of techniques to avoid the reflections. Measuring close up is one of them. There's a much more detailed explanation in this thread.
