Hello everyone!
I need help adjusting the Kali monitors DIP Settings based on their position in my room. I'm not that experienced when it comes to acoustics.
I can't decide which of the listed Dip positions fits my case. I'll attach a picture for you below.

I've been trying for some time, listening to different genres of songs, and I haven't succeeded. The only thing I noticed is that when all the DIP switches are intact (default position), I can feel the bass, but the highs are not so sweet, they are a little muffled. maybe it's up to the room, I still need to treat it to a certain extent acoustically

.

Unfortunately, my room is multifunctional, it's not a studio, so I would think to what extent I have to adjust the acoustics so that the sound is decent, I'm certainly aware that I can't get the best possible sound when the room is fully treated.

In the moments when I thought that I had the dip switch settings right for my monitor settings case, it seemed to me that I lost a lot of bass, and the sound changed a little, it became thinner.

Any opinion would mean a lot to me, I have already read almost all topics related to these monitors on the forum.

Thanks in advance to everyone!

I would try
1+2+3 ON
6+7 OFF

Also consider getting a measurement microphone for fine tuning with REW, even a basic Superlux or Behringer.

What's your listening distance? This looks close enough that there could be issues with proper integration (the driver spacing is not optimized for super nearfield use), and the tweeters appear to be rather above ear level. (You could try flipping the Kalis vertically if that's better, even if it might look unconventional. The pads may need to go in this case.)

Hello AnalogSteph! Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate your quick response.

I will try the dip switch settings you suggested. If I remember correctly, those settings slightly changed the audio image in terms of bass, it is audible but somehow thin, I don't feel the energy. Maybe it's the room, maybe I'm wrong,I will try again.

Regarding distances

top measurements.jpg

The listening distance is exactly the same as between the speakers marked in green.
The table is the dimension marked with red.

In the picture it seems that the table is small because it is an ultra wide photo.

The distance of the speaker from the wall is shown also red colored.
I gave you the dimensions for the reason you mentioned the recommended distance for a near-field monitor. You mentioned that it might be too close, so I would like to ask you whether, based on these measurements, you think it is too close?

Hm..regarding tweeters.
The monitor pads have a slight fall towards me, which causes my ear to be between the tweeter and the bass driver.

As I said, if you want to know for sure you'll need to measure. The mics I mentioned (e.g. Superlux ECM-999 or Behringer ECM8000) are not terribly expensive, add a decent XLR cable and you're looking at like 50€ max.

Ah yes, those distances look more sensible. I think 120 cm may be a bit optimistic and confirming with a tape measure may show more like 1 m, but that's still decent and quite typical. Can you roughly determine how far down from the tweeter axis in ° your ears are?

Then the position of your keyboard and mouse doesn't make any sense though. These look much too far away. You should never need to type with your arms stretched out, that's a surefire way of developing carpal tunnel issues. I had to give up Model Ms years ago because of that, Alt-Tab in particular was killing me. Keep the keyboard close to maintain good leverage.

Yes, you are right, of course, right now I'm asking if there is someone I can borrow to measure, but I'm definitely planning to buy a measuring microphone.
I am aware that this is the only way to tell how things are with the acoustics. I'm aware of that, but just in case, I wanted to hear another opinion. There are a lot of Kali LP-6 v2 speakers that were bought new but have some factory problems. So I was afraid that something was wrong with the audio image. The fact that I lose a lot of bass when I set the dip to 1,2,3 up, I wasn't sure if it was due to the room or other problems...

As for the ears and the body, I think that I form an equilateral triangle with the body and the position towards the monitors, and the height should be set correctly. I have strips on the ground that mark the distance of the chair from the table. When I sit straight on the chair, my ears come between the tweeter and the bass driver, as I said, in height.
I don't know how to determine how far down from the tweeter axis in ° my ears are...

The keyboard and mouse are currently moved so far, because I was holding the laptop on the table, so I didn't put it back in the right position when I took the picture :)

Thank you for the advice, I really try to sit correctly so that I have as few problems as possible, because I certainly spend a lot of time at the computer
