Kali Audio SM-5 (C) monitor

I prefer to have a choice. This software should be optional for those who need it. Especially if it contributes so much to the price. Likewise Genelec.

Disagree, features included in the monitor that are only accessible with an added fee drive me nuts, it's anticonsumer.

Those who need it? My friend everyone needs it, show me a speaker in a room that doesn't benefit from dsp eq. Are you just upset that you can't afford these or something?

I can afford these as well as Neumann KH120/150, Genelec 8331, JBL 705P and everyone of those would be my first choice at the moment. Usually new DSP causes a lot of problems and I prefer to wait for some time. Until now the is no SINGLE review of the passive version, not to mention active.

automated systems can have problems for sure when new, but the kali are manual eq, its going to work fine day one.

Yup no reviews so just wait before throwing out baseless criticisms.

I critized a price increase from 300 to 1600 from excellent IN-5. You glorify the speakers you have not seen nor heard yet.

Yeah no one is entertaining that because it's a really stupid take. It just shows you don't know much about loudspeaker manufacturing, driver differences, cabinet differences, etc... The tweeter is different, the mid is different, the coaxial drivers loading is completely different with better termination to the cabinet. The woofer is different and looks to be a higher quality (cast basket vs pressed). Distortion is spec'd lower on the SM-5, the cabinet is likely much thicker mdf with better bracing and dampening. You seem to be asking why any speaker would ever cost more than the in-5, as if that speaker doesn't have any issues.

We'll see. I have been waiting fir any measurements and reviews of the sm5c for half a year and there is none

oh no poor thing, life's so hard having to wait for speaker measurements.

Honestly. Are you guys working for Kali? I find it strange that although these speakers are suppose to be so superb after half a year there iz zero feed back from the market. Try to Google them

You find it strange that products from the same company at different price tiers will generally exhibit different performance?

I sincerely wish I worked for kali, they seem like a good company, my interactions with them to get my lp6 amps replaced made most other audio company support lines look like a joke.

I just want to know what I am paying for. If I wasnt interested in Kali speakers I would not be here. I owned Geithain RL901K, Geddes Abbey12c and currently CBT36K speakers. All of these well thought over and executed designes. Tekton Audio also claimed to have one of the best speakers in the world and they were ready to fight in the court over that

Hmm if only there were some way to contact kali and ask about data on the speaker. Oh well until we figure out some sort of communication protocol we'll just have to keep making pointless posts in this thread.

Agree that’s a bit strange.

Even if they don’t say a lot, they do publish these:

Of course, thanks. The discussion here is about the SM series though.

I bought and still have Kali IN5 from when they were first launched.

My take is they are able to get audibly (maybe not measurably) comparable results to much more expensive speakers. Their support is great as well. Looking forward to seeing/hearing what this new range can do
