Kali Audio LP-UNF

I don't think it's unclear, in fact, it's crystal clear.

You should use the USB-C connection because everything is resampled to 24 bit/48 kHz before it goes through DSP for the crossover and built-in corrections then on to amplification.

An external DAC means nothing.

Also, someone correct me if I am wrong--that's exactly how the JBLs noted by the OP operate too.

Thank you both.

''because everything is resampled to 24 bit/48 kHz before it goes through DSP for the crossover and built-in corrections then on to amplification'' this was all I needed, appreciated!

A coaxial design should have been used for such short distances.
But it’s different from the in unf model.

They've passed my fleetwood mac dreams test. And hey, they're actually quite musical! (to my ears).

I'm also happy to report that you can turn the led on the volume bar off by flipping a switch (#8) on the back.

Hi, to all. How do you compare this Kali LP-UNF to the Edifier S2000 MKIII. I alwayes wanted to buy the edifier and put them in my PC table, but they are HUGE so I am looking for something smaller but with similar or better quality.

Thanx.

Hi @Raul74! Welcome to ASR.

Compared to the S2000, the Kali has a more neutral treble response, but does not extend quite as far into the bass:

Still, it is the better engineered product IMO, and using its boudary compensation switches, you should be able to achieve higher sound quality.

Im happy to report that the Kali's have been on my desk for over a week now and they are a joy. Much better than I had imagined, although lacking some super low end (to be expected at this price point and size of speaker). But everything from mid bass on up is soo good!

Also you can turn off the volume led indicator which was a mega plus and much appreciated feature.

A couple caveats I will point out is that I would like to have a remote and/or a volume knob on one of the speakers. That way I wouldn't have to use my dac volume. Small nit-picky things but overall i'm very pleased.

Thank you staticV3 and bequietjk for your answer. In this Kali I don't like the volume control with touch + or - buttons, i prefer an old style volume knob. Can you suggest a good DAC with volume knob ?

Thank you

The Kali has a DAC built-in already, which cannot be bypassed, so I would use its USB input to avoid unnecessary A->D and D->A conversions.

You can then use one of the many different USB volume knobs available online.

I'm looking for a speaker in 300 - 400e range for audio production and general computer use. How do the Kali Audio LP-UNF compare to the ADAM Audio D3V ?

We haven't seen the D3V independently tested with a Klippel yet, but Adam have a measurement report on their site if you don't want to wait. It looks pretty good to me, at least within the limitations of its size. The LP-UNF is up a size class, so almost certainly less limited at the bottom end. I'd take the LP-UNF if there's enough space for it, and the D3V if you need something smaller.
