I'm looking for a speaker that is overall better than the Kali LP-6 in every aspect: frequency response, bass, soundstage, imaging, mids, clarity, low distortion, and instrument separation.

Why did you buy first version, version two is significantly better. I don't understand why you say they sound great and your next question is about a better speaker.

I suppose the best compact nearfield speaker is Neumann KH120 II. But your desk is very small and I don't know how you could place them.

The truth is that ever since I got into high-fidelity audio, it feels like I'm never completely satisfied. I'm planning to buy a subwoofer and, if possible, upgrade to a pair of speakers that are a bit better than the LP-6.

I didn't buy the 2nd Wave version because I found these speakers second-hand at a good price.

Well... I just ordered the Kali audio WS-6.2. The seller only has a 2-star rating on Trustpilot, but most of the negative reviews are about their after-sales service rather than the purchase itself. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!

I have a problem, i realized that for best connection i need to connect WS-6.2 to the LP-6 by crossover 80hz, that means i need to connect 2x2 XLR cables from the speakers to the sub and the sub to the sound card. The issue is AE-9 doesn't have XLR, so... how should i connect this property?

No, you can try Sound Blaster AE-9 -> RCA -> WS-6.2 -> XLR -> LP6.

If there is no mains hum or other common-mode noise, then this works just fine.

But if there is electrical noise, then I recommend you look into pseudo-balanced RCA to XLR.

I don't have RCA to XLR cables. I have 2 XLR cables male to female, 1 XLR to jack 6.35.

have plenty of RCA male to RCA male and Jack 3.5 to RCA.

I just called the seller, and he explained that I can connect the subwoofer to the AE-9 using an RCA cable, and the speakers directly to the AE-9 as well. And I'd still benefit from the 80 Hz crossover. Later on, though, I'll need to buy a decent audio interface with XLR and TRS outputs.

Can anyone recommend a good sound device (DAC, receiver, external sound card)

I received the WS-6.2 sub, and so far I'm a bit underwhelmed. Either I haven't integrated it properly, or my expectations were too high.

Right now, it seems to overpower the rest of the frequency range. Instead of adding depth and extension to the low end, it produces a boomy, one-note bass that masks the mids and highs. The overall presentation feels less balanced than I expected.

I'm still experimenting with placement, crossover, and gain, so it's possible this is an integration issue rather than a problem with the sub itself. Has anyone else experienced this with the WS-6.2, or do you have any setup recommendations?

crossover 80Hz, but the connections are not balanced, I'm using rca from sound card to sub.
