Also fun fact, the JVC XL-V1*1 and 2*1 series that came after this have the same dac and laser transport, and thus, should perform just as well. I have an XL-V261 on its way.

My XL-V261 arrived today. I put a good CD in, plugged my headphones into the phones jack and hit play. My picky ears are very, very happy! I think this is JVC's swan song to the single disc player. Made from '93 thru '96. I did find out this player has the updated version of JVC's single bid DAC used in the 331 and 335. But my God does it sound good!
