along comes (and I quote from an email I received this morning from ahem Audiogon:

The first alternative to cabling and wiring in 200 years! Magnetic Conduction.
This new technology is the direct replacement for your pre-existing high-end cables. This new technology works directly with the audio or power signal itself, manipulating the magnetic energy associated with the electrical transfer. Utilizing the energy responsible for signal transfer is known as induction. This technology reacts with each electron's dipole moment. The dipole moment is also known as the magnetic moment solely responsible for energy transmission. The effects of a dipole moment in each electron combine to form the b-field. A b-field is a magnetic field accompanying signal transmission.
Through this manipulation, we can significantly reduce distortions and enhance signal transfer immensely. Since the cable is acting more like a magnet, these devices do not operate as standard cables do.
The direct result for audio and video playback is a much more realistic presentation sense, dramatically increasing clarity and dynamics. Virtually every aspect of an audio system is drastically improved. These new devices represent the single largest breakthrough for audiophiles, and even our most entry-level devices have system transformation capabilities that are immediately apparent.

Magnets?! Wow, this is game-changing.
Innovative.
Disruptive.

what other tech buzzwords am I forgetting?

Plus... I wonder if they're good for Arthuritis arthritis?

Sorry for fishing in a barrel!
I did do a search for these guys here and I do see they've been mentioned -- but the over the top headline in the email kinda pushed me into full-on Andy Rooney mode.

Why is this not in "Fun topics, videos, etc." section?
Oh I see it's not even "funny"..maybe we just need /BS Unclassifiable section/..(?)

One of the small UK forum peeps tried adding cylindrical magnets to and around their cables. Can't remember the lasting conclusion but not sure they bother with this now... Ferrites I can go with but magnets?

Isn't this how permanent magnet motors and speaker drivers work? Place a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field, and voilà, a force is generated on the conductor (see Lorentz force). You may even be able to make your wires dance around a very tiny little bit. But I don't think that's what most people want their audio equipment cables to do. In fact, I'd think they prefer the exact opposite.

HighFidelityCables.com's No Refunds policy (under Guarentee) is at least as innovative and game-changing as their technology.

"Not offering a refund .......lowers retail pricing by 20-25%..... (Refunds) are never free as retail cannot work like that any loss has to be paid for by someone buying a product. The risk is simply spread across the client base though pricing and disrupts the value proposition. I did not feel that was fair considering our products performance level as it is extremely high for audio and the highest in audio cabling."

So one can feel confident that a High Fidelity magnets purchase is an undisrupted value that is free from the socialist taint inherent in buying from vendors who offer return refunds.

I, really truly, looked at all of the subfora and figured this was the best I could do.
I did find it funny... but, then again, I also found it not funny, you know? :(

I thought about sticking it in the audiophool humor thread, but I figured it would just disappear...

You know, like Luigi did...

Surely if there was any benefit it would be killed off by the crappy looking wires either side of the tubes?

Looks like a pipe bomb to me - the FBI would probably agree.

I'm having trouble thinking of any other industry in which claims like this go utterly unchallenged by any consumer regulatory agency. I mean, these aren't opinions they're expressing; there are specific (though nonsensical) physical and engineering assertions involved here. Anyone can say a block of maple just "sounds sweeter", cuz that's subjective; but specific claims like "signficantly reduce distortions" should be easy to expose as fraud, if someone were inclined to waste the time.
