Just Trying to Learn

Be careful. If your ideas don't fall in line you might be in for a bumpy ride.

Only if he is unable to take what he hears and actually learn from the interactions. Many here aren't interested in learning, but are here to lecture us, often about ourselves. That gets old quick, and may contribute to that 'bumpy ride.'

Just a heads up... This is thin ice on an objective forum. Measurement verification or it didn't happen is the rule.

That's not the rule. Why don't you stop disparaging this place every chance you get and try to actually figure out what people are saying. You may find the ride less bumpy.

In all fairness, the same rule applies on a subjective forum as well. You want subjective?... go else where has been my friendly reminder. This ain't the place.

If you want to give anecdote presented as evidence, this may not the place. We love subjective testing, as long as meaningful and appropriate controls are used. Why is the concept of controlled subjective testing so hard to grasp?

Why are you so bitter? Are you bitter because you've been temporarily banned from one thread? Or are you bitter because this forum doesn't kowtow to your way of thinking?

You seem to be taking things personally, and that is not the way of either science or logic. The Scientific Method was developed to deliberately control or circumvent the biases, emotions and ego that humans had used to assign meaning to the workings of the universe. No more voodoo or superstition ... just reliable data and conclusions that are reproducible throughout time and distance.

Imagine the repercussions of your outlook should you be hired by NASA, the military, Dow Chemical, Merck and Co., Apple or Lockheed-Martin. Does personal conviction and emotion produce results in those companies, or do results depend on rational application of scientific principles?

Every day, you enjoy the benefits of the largest and finest scientific companies in the world, yet here you are, biting the hand that feeds you. Please stop.

Jim

Ahem. No. Measurement OR listening- but with basic controls so it's ears only.
Or simply state that something is your personal, subjective, opinion. We're all human, it's fine to have preferences.
Don't cross over into thinking or saying that means anything to anyone else - not without evidence, measurements or listening controls.

I find this a very friendly place, I'm learning loads

I've done some fun learning the last two weeks. I recently measured the frequency response in my SUV's speakers, and after a lot of fiddling and back and forth with a GPT, I realized single band treatment of speakers can drastically change the listening experience for the better (or worse if you get it wrong lol)

As a teaser, this is the final frequency response curve I came up with to deal with my 07' Equinox Pioneer speaker system (stock Amplifier). I thought there's no way this should sound good (based on conventional wisdom) ... but dang, I positively love the way those speakers sound now! And I'm curious about how I can make it better ...
