I just bought PSB Synchrony One speakers that I had been eyeing for more than a decade. Paid 2k.

I think these guys will give Revel Salon 2 run for the money. At least based on objective performance, which I am a fan of. Can’t wait to open’em up and start listening and testing.

edit: just to clarify, my fondness for objective performance in speakers has correlated with subjective enjoyment over many years. I have owned B&Ws, Sonus Fabers, and the like. But my current DIY completely moded active Klipsch destroys every single one of those. Only reason for the PSB is desire for simplification.

congrats! i have owned a set of psb towers in the past and really enjoyed them. bass response was exceptional, midrange was forward and transparent, highs were excellent too. also had top flight coherence and imaging.
amplifier synergy will be important, a nice smooth class a would be perfect, also consider some acoustic panels if you find the sound too bright.
peace and good luck !

Congrats. If you take some REW measurements it would be interesting to see them posted here.

Happy listening!

What amp are you using to drive them?
I have a pair of Hypex NC400 and a Wyred 4 Sound ST1000, which has a pair of ICE 1000ASP modules in it. Will try those. But I’m thinking of selling my McIntosh MC275 VI that currently is driving my active tweeters, for the newer McIntosh MC462.

Yeah it's definitely not quite as smooth or as wide to 10khz as the Salon 2, and probably can't handle anywhere near as much power, but still. It looks like it probably compares favorably to something like the F228 so that's still a fantastic speaker for the money.

Hope you didn’t think I mean better. I meant bang for the money. Of course, it doesn’t go as low as the Salon 2 and does not have the beryllium tweeters. But the overall frequency response, distortion and dispersion pattern are exemplary (see below). And it’s about 3.5-4 dB more efficient. Perhaps with a tweeter swap, it may become even better. I need to hear it in comparison to my active speakers that have Pioneer beryllium tweeters first. If my ears pick up anything bad in the high end, I may end up swapping them.

wyred4sound St1000 to woofers up to 300Hz
Hypex Nc400 monoblocks for Scanspeak midrange 300-3.5khz
McIntosh MC275 to Pioneer beryllium tweeters above 3.5khz

the Consonance Cyber 800SE tube monoblocks in the pic will go on sale soon

Do you mean with another tweeter from PSB? Or would you buy your own tweeters and hope that the cross-over will not need any modification?
I hope to try my Pioneers or Focal inverted beryllium tweeters. Of course, crossover issue may arise, but I won’t know if I do not try.

still PSB has commendable measurable performance that comes close to Salon 2, which in tern is considered one of the best performing speakers

The earlier plot is (now was, since it has been deleted and replaced) for the original Salon (Salon1), not the Salon2 or Studio2.
