From a lively active lady to a shell.
I nursed her for 4 yrs with this cruel disease

We met 37 yrs ago.
I don't regret anything.
Not sure if i should post this but. Iam so upset.
Anyway been sorting things out i have to much hifi stuff.
Where can I sell my topping dx9 akm?.

My deepest condolences on your loss.

I understand that your feelings are very strong at this moment, but your hifi might be a connection to your past with her and maybe you shouldn’t sell it at this time.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. My advice would be not to do anything rash, especially anything that can't easily be undone. Selling a Topping is probably fine, but I'd avoid selling anything that would be difficult or expensive to replace later. At some point, your love of music and hi-fi will return. It's all part of the healing process.

Who has the right to say something like that to you at a moment like this — even if it were correct, it still wouldn't be appropriate.
I can't understand your pain because I still have all my loved ones alive. If you're a believer, hope that they've gone to a place that is, surely, better.

Don't get rid of anything — first because it can be a bond with the one you loved, and second because music, along with family and faith, are "things" that comfort the heart in difficult moments. Time eases the pain but doesn't erase it; those we've loved, we love forever.

I don't know you, but I'm sending you a big hug.

Thank you all for replying.
Maybe iam jumping the gun ect...
I will see how I feel in the coming months.

I feel dead inside.
A day before she passed she woke and I said
That I loved her and I would do it all over again.
She tried to smile and whispered " thank you terry.
Need to go now.
Thank you all .

My deepest condolences Terry. Music can help. As I'm sure you know.

Condolences, sorry to hear this. I've watched that disease run its course and it's truly horrible.

I agree you shouldn't ditch your hi-fi right away. You very well might be glad to have it some months from now.

However if time passes and you just have some extra stuff, I usually sell on FB marketplace / Craigslist, or eBay. There's also reverb, US audio mart, and even good old ASR.

So sorry for your loss!

As others said: don’t get rid of things yet, until you have some breathing room to do a good contemplation of your situation.

My heartfelt condolences to you. There is nothing that can really describe that pain and loss. Praying for peace and strength for you in your grief.

I'm so sorry to hear that @terrys999
I haven't lost somebody this close to me, but I still lost quite a few unexpectedly.

From what I experienced I would say that it's better to keep a lot of things as they were for a while. One thing I would recommend is doing regular walks. When I went through difficult times this really helped me. I kept the habbit of walking after breakfast and lunch as I noticed it helped me in many ways.

Anyway we're here for you to read our silly journeys in hifi in the mean time. We're a silly bunch, but we mean allright.

So very sorry to hear this.
I have been down this path myself. After my loss, I sold off all of my hi-fi gear and took about a decade to come back to the hobby. I recommend that you try not make any irreversible decisions about anything important in your life during this time of grieving.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Like everyone, I've been through some very difficult things over the years. Without a doubt, the best advice I ever got was from a friend who urged me to seek help dealing with things. The decision to go seek therapy was arguably the best one I ever made, and I always feel compelled to urge others to do the same.

My older sister passed in April. We were always extremely close. She was the one person on the planet that I didn't hide absolutely anything from. A personality and intellect from another dimension. I am tearing up just writing this.
It takes quite a while to really heal from these losses, and we probably never fully heal. The crippling pain slowly fades into a melancholic smile. Every day I think of her and say "I'll see you soon enough..." and it gives me comfort.
And one thing that has helped me a lot is... music. As I listen through playlists, I regularly discover stuff that is based on music preferences she clearly helped shape a lot. And when that melancholy smile finally becomes the default reaction when I think of her (I am not there yet), I know we'll stay connected in some way through music.
We all process differently, and I send you healing energy. The pain we feel is a tribute to the people we loved and lost.
By all means, sell gear you don't need, but I'd caution against proceeding too quickly/impulsively at this moment.

Sad story. 37 years is long time and it will take some time to recover. 212 posts in seven years, a man of few words, so posting this means this place means something to you and also it makes me feel good about the kind words from so many members. It maybe too early to say, but Terry, you still have the rest of your life to live and I'll bet your dearest would want you to gain some fulfillment from it. Take your time, but when the moment arrives think what you need to move ahead. Music is a simple pleasure and can spell you from loss and loneliness. I'm hoping that some inner strength will emerge to help you through the coming days.
