Hey there, noob here.

I acquired a new house and the acoustics are terrible. Talked about this with the previous owner and he agrees. "This house is like that".

So today I finally received my "bouti bedspread", this is a 4 kilogram (9 pound) wonderful spread. I didn't even thought about acoustics, I just needed it for my bed. Then once placed over the bed, in addition to transforming my bedroom aesthetics, I instantly noticed a massive improvement on acoustics just by talking with my wife. Suddenly reverberation was all gone.

This room is small and has basic furniture: a bed, couple nightstands, closet, chest, courtains, bed sheets, etc. The bedspread was a game changer. It makes sense, 280x250 centimeters of a porous, jackard textile covering 4 sides of the bed (top, left, right, and back end). WoW.

Now my gaming room still has crappy acoustics. It has double courtains, a 2 seat couch, closet, bookshelf full of different sized books, and even a 240x170cm. high tile rug. Should I order a bedspread and hang from ceiling or something? LOL!!!! Just sharing my noob experience. I will keep improving my house :)

Get a cheap measurement microphone and measure the difference, then you can also quantify the additional improvements. And some actual data might make the thread way more interesting.

On the topic of improvements where audio reproduction wasn't the primary concern: bookshelves can double as diffusers with some thoughtful placement and arrangement.

Thanks a lot! I used "RT by Gabi Moreno" app and collected this RT60 data (Average for 5 tests):

My current gaming room, which I want to improve:

- 125Hz: 0,88s
- 250Hz: 0,62s
- 500Hz: 0,49s
- 1000Hz: 0,50s
- 2000Hz: 0,48s
- 4000Hz: 0,46s
- Average: 0,47s

This is from my previous gaming room (was not ideal, but decent with no evident problems):

- 125Hz: 0,65s
- 250Hz: 0,53s
- 500Hz: 0,51s
- 1000Hz: 0,47s
- 2000Hz: 0,46s
- 4000Hz: 0,38s
- Average: 0,42s

Doesn't look like much different in numbers, but it is to my ears! Makes any sense? Now this is how my room looks like:

Sound is nightmare at the door space (I didn't even test this area), which I don't care, but it just slightly improves inside the actual room and is still bad.

I can mainly work on West and East walls adding any kind of panels I could benefit from, since North is full of stuff, and South is the door and the wardrobe I can't do anything there. I can add bass traps in every corner you may suggest. I can also add panels in the "empty wall" between Door space and the built-in wardrobe. I could add a second rug for the empty floor space. I don't want to place anything in ceiling. I am seated where the chair is drawn, most of time. I sometimes seat in couch and I want good acoustics there too.

Also my 2.1 speaker system is wired (not wireless) so I can't move the speaker, maybe some couple feet to other best position, but not much freedom here. I can upgrade my speakers in the future, getting a new 2.1 wireless system and place the subwoofer anywhere else if that placement is not good. Thanks in advance!
