Just a Hypothetical Question

So I have some older equipment and a new TV. Most of my music is streamed from Chromecast Audios connected by RCA to vintage receivers/amplifiers. I currently have a vintage Kenwood KA-7300 that's being refurbished. And I'm considering getting a WiiM Ultra.

My question: Do you think there would be any noticeable difference between the setups below with output to (refurbished) JSE Infinite Slope speakers with a 10" Powered Polk Audio sub?

1) A new Sony Bravia 7 TV streaming Tidal's highest quality audio connected by optical cable to a Denon AVR 1082 powering the speakers and with sub out to the powered sub.
2) WiiM Ultra streaming Tidal's highest quality audio connected by RCA to the Kenwood KA-7300 to speakers and the WiiM sub out to the powered sub.

Thanks for any thoughts!

The Wiim Ultra will give you much better flexibility and control for room EQ than the Denon, which has a very nondescript "cinema equalizer".

I am also partial to the vintage Kenwood over an old Denon AVR :D

Personally wouldn't bother with Tidal but not sure what difference you would expect routing it thru a tv....tv's that can route the basic 2ch signal should be fine, tho not sure what your tv's limits for bandwidth are but probably just fine in any case. I just don't route sound thru my tvs, don't see the need. I also use audio chromecasts to my non wifi gear.

ps agree the feature set in the Wiim for eq etc would be likely better than a tv offers.

Thanks for the replies!

@Chrispy - Not sure what you're saying about not routing Tidal though the TV. To clarify, I'm using the Tidal app installed directly on the TV as the source in this case.

Also, I'm wondering if I can add the WiiM to Google Home on my Android phone and cast synchronously to the WiiM and my Chromecast Audios? Or maybe there is some other app that can do this?

Thanks!!

Just checked Google home and it does see the WiiM devices so that should work.

Just meant I only use tvs as a display, no routing of audio/video thru them. I use google home for my audio chromecasts and from what I've read the Wiim uses same technology and can do that as well.

Thanks again for the replies! I ordered a WiiM Ultra late yesterday. Hopefully it won't take too long to get my Kenwood back and try them out together. Now I'm going to move on to learning about REW and see if I can test my main listening room and improve my setup. I'm just starting to set the room back up after a long remodeling project. Just playing with a couple of frequency sweep videos on youtube and listening it seems my base is nearly inaudible at about 65 - 70 Hz the way I've setup initially.
