As someone who is competent in subwoofer design, you won't go wrong with JTR. The biggest part will be incorporation and calibration, but as a sub they're first rate.
I'm currently thinking of two RS1's. I rarely enjoy music that loud on speakers (only in headphones and at EDC.
And I'm going to be doing a Genelec 8351B-based active monitor HiFi system, so I am more looking for clarity and range than crazy SPL.
This is what I'm thinking. I'm hoping it will come close to a decently-high-end passive system? (I was originally thinking a D'Agostino Progression Integrated amp and Focal No. 2s)
And then all that leveled and smoothed out with a Storm Audio MKII Processor using DIRAC.
- 2 x 8351B's for Left/Right Highs
- 2 x W371A's for Left/Right Mids
- 2 x JTR RS1s for Left/Right Bass

The same with me. Also if I could fit them into my lounge room I'd buy them no problem.I would strongly encourage you to get dual subs, especially if you’re thinking of JTR subs with 18” drivers. There are a lot of well-engineered and measured subs. My ‘subwoofer comparison’ post should help anyone find one.
I would buy 4 of JTR RS2’s if only my budget allowed. A man can dream...![]()
Even if running off 15A outlets, still plenty of capability in the dual RS1s. How big a room is it? Not sure what you mean by pairing with the speakers, tho.I'm looking for two subs for the living room to go with F228be w/ dual AHB2. Everything is fed from an SHD. By my back of the envelope, the F228be + AHB2 is about 112 dB SPL @ 1m. I'm thinking the JTR RS1 would fit in pretty well.
My main concerns is the 2400W amp needing a 20 amp dedicated circuit. The other is the ugly factor. As it's sealed, I think I could build some furniture grade cabinetry around it as long as I was careful about resonances?
really, I'm most likely to replace two side tables with DIY subs, maybe bottom firing, for the aesthetics assuming I can get the WinISD to agree with the performance. But I'd appreciate any feedback on the RS1 / F228be pairing.

I run dual 2400 Captivators and a bunch more stuff off of two 15 amp circuits. Playing on occasion to reference levels and not once has my breaker tripped. The Amps JTR uses are extremely efficient and they draw very little power. I don’t think you will have a problem. Once you hear and feel them in your room the ugly will disappear and you won’t give a toss what they look like. I run my RS1s off 15A outlets and never had any issues with sound quality. Absolutely love how the RS1s can play with finesse when called upon and hit the single digits cleanly and with brute power when unleashed. I may try the dedicated 20A eventually for peace of mind though. I once heard the F228be’s in a treated room at audio advice and really enjoyed the clarity and crispness of their sound. I’d imagine they’d be a great match with RS1s for music as well as movies.I'm looking for two subs for the living room to go with F228be w/ dual AHB2. Everything is fed from an SHD. I just ordered two JTR Captivator 2400ULF subwoofers, like I thought I needed even more powerful bass than my three regular JTR 2400's caps. They should call these Super Subwoofers. I use one for my dedicated stereo and I've never heard such bass detail, like the cd Victor Wooten, a double bassist, sounds fantastic. With music or movies I never knew there were so many noises my house could make. I just joined so I hope I'm not being silly replying to this after so long, just good to know other people like their JTR's. Have a good one.Yeah I have dual JTR 2400ULF Caps and I never knew subs could go from gentle smooth, to shaking my concrete slab like a tuning fork. Actually scary the output and depth of these.
Welcome Aboard @summersnow and it’s never silly to share your joy and excitement about music and music reproduction. So,let me get this right. You already have 3 JTR 2400 Captivators and you are adding Dual JTR 2400ULF’s to the mix? Do you work in Earth Moving and Earth Quake research and analysis laboratory? 5 of theses is going to be insane and really scary. Please do tell us more about your setup, maybe some speaker HiFi porn photos if we’re lucky?I just ordered two JTR Captivator 2400ULF subwoofers, like I thought I needed even more powerful bass than my three regular JTR 2400's caps. A sub does not have to be fast, since they rarely go above 100Hz or so. I can jump up and down at that speed with a beer in my hand, so it's no big deal.Hey all,
I'm looking for some subs to pair with a Genelec active-monitor-based HiFi system.
I'm using Genelec 8351B's for left, right, (and center for HT), and am looking to get some really nice subs to go with them.
I'm going to be running everything through the Storm MkII processor, which includes DIRAC, so that I can make sure the bass is well integrated and not boomy or overpowering.
The question is: For something like the JTR RS2 (Two 18" Woofers), are they "fast" and "clean" enough to be great for HiFi?
Like, I'm sure they'll rock for explosions in HT and such, but I want a really clean, understated, bass foundation for 2-channel music. Basically, something that fully blends into the music and doesn't call attention to itself---but with massive headroom.
I am hoping to get some input from some of the folks here with experience with JTR and Rythmik sealed subs.
My goal:
Bass at reference level till 10hz.
My room:
5000 cubic feet sealed room
24 feet longest side of the room.
Seems like I should be getting room gain below 23.5hz
Two options:
2x JTR RS1
2x Rythmik F18
JTR rs1 is twice as loud as Rythmik F18 at 10hz and also almost twice as much in cost compared to F18.
I most likely cannot do 4 large subs in this room.
I am going sealed to let the roll be gradual and get some support from room.
If anyone of you think I should stick with 2 Rythmik E15s let me know why.
Thanks in advance.
I got no skills for buildingI'd much rather go with JTR over Rythmik myself. That's a big room and 2 subs may or may not do it. Maybe just build yourself a couple of LLT subs with something like the Stereo Integrity HS-18 (or maybe the 24s)
Doesn't take a lot and there are some knocked down cnc-cut boxes to help out (like GSG Audio). Not for everyone, tho.I got no skills for building
Considering material cost I think the total price will be close to JTR RS1Doesn't take a lot and there are some knocked down cnc-cut boxes to help out (like GSG Audio). Not for everyone, tho.
