Maybe, this is why Topping hasn't given us a power amp yet...? It's really hard to do.

Topping has definitely released a power amp or two, such as the PA3, but I agree with your point.

Would you say it would be good value if it would cost around 10% more but deliver 2x 300W at 4ohms?

If it could do it at similar distortion numbers as the unit that Amir measured? Oh heck yes, that's some world-best price performance, right? I'd buy one today.

@jlesterp what do the measurements look like when paired with the 48V power supply?

In Imperial for your USA folks about 9x10 inches...

If it could keep the distortion down, then yes, but the reference spec does not look like it can actually manage that. Still, it looks like you can get over 150W out of it with acceptable THD+N, so there is certainly room to make this much better.

PA3 is really not in the same league; which is why I did not mention it.

But I've seen lots of folks bugging @JohnYang1997 about a power amp that would complement some of the market leading DACs they produce. It's been many a DAC and Desktop headphone amp since, but no power amp.

That is one fine layout. The only issue I can see is the use of EU mains voltage colours for speaker connections. It’s minor but if it had been a commercial device it would fail the CE test.

Why did the company cheap out and didn’t send the amp with the beefier powesupply?

even the low end Denon amplifiers usually have similar performance.

what’s the point of having class D with no big W?

would the beefier power supply increase the noise of the amplifier?

That would depend on the particulars of that power supply. Some SMPS boards (and outboard/encased PSUs) are better at noise suppression than others.

That is at 10% THD, more reasonable is to state it will do 260W. It will do about 210-220W @ 4 ohm at reasonable distortion levels. Which is still very good of course.

I did? Besides your question is based on the assumption this chip can do 2x 300W at 4ohms with sufficient cooling. Which it can't at reasonable distortion levels. But 210-220W @ 4 ohms is still a good deal.

Where did you find an assembled amp with these modules for 350$? Amir say the module only is 130$ to 170$... It doesn't add up at all. even for the amp under review, now imagine with a power supply able to give 300W/ch. You are talking about the chip or the module under test?
