LOL yeah, the Harbottle/Funk stuff is pricey (but about as good as it gets). I'm more a fan of multiples no matter the particular sub, tho. I went DIY for my last several subs, partially to save some cash but also for the experiences (with woodworking as well as the subs themselves). Might also consider Hsu and SVS, too.

I agree regarding REL, but JL are quite good. There may be others that equal them at a lower price point, but the performance of JL subs is quite good. That said, in general I agree with the "there is no replacement for displacement" comment.
Meh, more in the overpriced category, they have some decent performance but not particularly great value for that performance.....

ive had SVS, single then dual SB2000. Theyre okay, but i get more of a cinema impression from them then I did music. and I liked the musicality of the JL much more.
Maybe that would change if i got something like their new SB5000? idk if I want to risk that though.
Audio is audio, musicality is in the music itself, not the hardware. Perhaps more to do with your room and placement of subs, tho, maybe the way you eq'd them.

Audio is audio, but hardware is not hardware. The DSP implementation and interface is different with different brands and this can give you sonically very different results form one sub to another.
Yes, that's why you have to be aware/careful etc I more meant the actual sub, not the supporting eq software/hardware.
My point was that an individual might find a better fit using DIRAC or JL Audio's D.A.R.O. or some other software... if one gets the results that they prefer using JL Audio's software than someone else's then for them the cost differential may be well worth it and a JL Audio subwoofer is the valid choice.
I think we often look at the theoretical differences between different pieces of equipment as opposed to actual use cases. I may prefer DIRAC ART, or RoomPerfect, or Trinnov's wave forming technology or JL Audio's D.A.R.O in a simpler system... they are all working towards a similar goal, but each one uses a very different approach. Depending on the specific room and system, each one has its place.

Have you considered arendal? Imo they are amazing bang for buck and offer nice amp features through their optional app. The warranty is hard to beat as well.
The JL in my experience have a very dated old school amp design which has its quirks and documented reliability issues.
They (jl) admittedly have some of the most robust driver and enclosure build but their designs are now over a decade old.
Just food for thought.

This isnt a bad idea but idk that I want to find space in the back for 2 more subs. That's a lot of subs
I went from jl’s (f113v2’s) to rythmik subs (F18 and E15HP2). The jls are great for their size and have a nice fit and finish but the rythmiks are more capable and much less expensive while a little larger. If I were you I’d get a pair of f18s as it appears you have space.
