Hello, people!
Total newbie here, although I have been following the posts and reviews for quite a while now.
This has to be the best place to ask a newbie question, I suppose
So, my setup was Beyerdynamic DT700 pro x on a Motu M2 USB audio interface/DAC.
Recently *(a few days ago) I finally stepped up, and got myself a Sennheiser HD600, and JDS LABS Atom Amp 2 (fearing my Motu M2 would not be able to push the headphones loud enough, although the reviews claimed it is at the border of its abilities)
Guess what? - It can push the phones, and it is on the border of its abilities, if you, like me, like to listen loud some of songs.
The Motu has good distortion tests, according to the reviews and what I could hear myself, although I fear cranking it to the max will not be ideal.
Now, I connected Motu to JDS ATOM Amp 2, and of course, it is much better, ... BUT!
I try cranking the DAC to 3/4 of the volume to avoid any distortions.
JDS amp is pushing it nicely, but to get it very loud, I must be almost all the way up with the volume.
If I turn the DAC to the max, it is much louder, of course.
Now, I tried connecting the Atom 2 directly to the PC.
It actually is VERY loud at 1-2 o'clock volume on the amp (windows volume is on the max all the time).
I can't be sure, but it seems it is as loud as when I crank the motu to the MAX.
Quality RCA cables were used on Motu>Atom connection,
Very old, cheap, from Genius PC speakers, TRS to 2 rca was used for PC>Atom connection.
Is this normal?
Does anybody have any advice on volume levels on this DAC and Amp?
Anybody using the same combo?
Thank you in advance!
