JBL SDP-55 Audio/Video Processor Review

The highest quality music releases available anywhere are Blurays with Atmos/Auro3D recordings such as those produced by Morten Lindberg's 2L(whether or not you enjoy the genre, the recording and production is unmatched).
Sure, otherwise David Gilmours - Luck and Strange was just released on BluRay yesterday.
Awesome sounding recording in lossless Dolby Atmos TrueHD.

Would this coax jitter issue also affecting dante digital output ? I use wiim pro to feed the music stream into sdp-55 through coax input and then processed by sdp55 with Dirac and then output data from dante.

Before you buy a unit to use with Dante, you may wish to speak with Harman luxury support.

Starting in April 2022, there has been an issue that is still not fixed to my knowledge, which causes some pops and crackles and issues with Dante.

IMS0024523

That is Harman's internal tracking number for the Dante issue with the JBL SDP 55 and SDP 58.

Many people say they do not have this issue, but I did with any of the dongles that I used from two different companies.

Harman support was not able to resolve it.

If you are only using it for XLR output, then it should be fine.

Can someone explain why Coax is used over some of the newer technologies since we all know HDMI is preferred due to shear speed and signal.

Since you're replying to a message about Dante, I have no idea what you're talking about, since Dante typically uses Ethernet and this nowadays usually means twisted pair cables.

HDMI is preferred? For signal? LOL.

(You'll have to fix the freaking word filter correction on this one, I guess).

I could go on and on, but I think you can get the point.

I do experience with pops and crackles initially but I managed to fix it by : 1. set sdp-55 as dante mater clock. 2. always power on sdp-55 first then the rest of the dante devices 3. disable sdp55 auto standby and cec power control.

Dante also has a bug on the subwoofer output. If you turn up the volume above 61 the subwoofer channel level is not increased anymore. The other channels are raised as expexted.

Bug is verified by JBL. No fix date.

what do you mean by subwoofer channel, are you talking about channel6 specifically or ch13~16 in general. I can verify there is no such issue with channel 13~16. I use 4 subwoofers that map to 13~16 so never noticed such issue

Both.
Are you using Dirac? You can cone around the problem by reducing subwoofer gain in the SDP (which Dirac might do). Then you offset the position where it happens.

But the behavior have been verified by me and two others with different Dante gear. And also by JBL. So if you are not seeing it, you need to tell me how you avoided it so I can use Dante :)

Example here. Red line is LFE pink noise (on subwoofer out) and it stops increasing. Non lfe (on other channels) continue to increase. I routed both signals to the same output to make sure it was not an terror after the SDP.

Yes, I use Dante from sdp55 to route audio to qsc audio processor and it is easy to see the actual digital audio level (dBFS)through monitor. I set sub channel(6)as none and map channel 13~16 to 4 subs. Never encountered the issue you described.

Do you use Dirac?
