JBL goes Dirac Live ready and Class-D

Review up, in case you didn't already notice it.

TL;DR: Performance isn't the greatest, though neither is it so abysmal that's it an automatic no. I'm leaning toward keeping it, as with Dirac I'm pretty sure the performance is fine enough for a living room set up.

The tested MA9100HP in the german trade magazine AUDIOstereoplay seems to have less distortion.
Is there anywhere we can see the results for that? I suppose its possible the 9100HP has more upgrades beyond the additional channels and power.

Results were just about what I expected. Target audience of young millennials/older Gen Z probably won't notice a difference!

I think you have to buy the magazine: Link
Well, guess we're outta luck on that front unless some enterprising German member can get hold of that issue, provide scans and translate for us.

Have you already used it in comparison in real life e.g. with KEFs, B&Ws, ... that have a non-straightforward, simple EPDR curve?
A subset of measured values is one thing, but cannot fully show the system behavior in real operation.

Huh? Of course I haven't. I'm only basing my performance estimation from Amir's review. The amp section, asides from the middling SINAD, does seem to actually be quite robust though.

AVR, speakers, ...
Ah. My setup hasn't been updated in quite a while. Running a Denon X1300H with some old Energy C-series floorstanders and center, utilizing some little Energy satellite speakers for the surrounds. Hsu STF-2 for the sub.

JBL sounded very good and received a big recommendation:

Seems like an infomercial than any kind of proper evaluation.

After watching excerpts from the video, I remember why I prefer the tests here. Although I don't always understand the test methodology/presentation 100%, the hard facts are easier to digest for me than a series of platitudes.
As with many other YouTube testers, nothing is said here with a lot of flowery words, which makes me uncomfortable.

You mean they don't own a shop that's selling these? I don't grok German, but I got the impression they were salesmen.

Mostly blablabingo in their videos.
I wouldn't go that far. I have already been able to listen to some of these review devices at other locations. The sound descriptions didn't differ much from my impressions.
