JBL 708P Review (Professional Monitor)

I’m not sure if they have DSP resource constraints (BSS has DSP for days but the I understand the Crown DCIn tuning needs to use some FIR filters in addition to the PEQ) but keep in mind the concept of audible thresholds. Dr. Toole has references that resonances should be below audible thresholds on multiple occasions. In any event, subjectively I don’t find 708 less “smooth” sounding than Revel Gem2, Revel M126Be, or Neumann KH120 II, and especially the last of those is an essentially perfect exemplar of a monopole loudspeaker of its size.

There are some resonances but mainly that 5-8khz area is little bit elevated and could sound bright also bcouse of that. I just prefer more linear response myself.

Hi,

I've put together a network based remote control for JBL 705P and 708P speaker. I've detailed it in this post here.

Not sure if cross posting like this is frowned upon or not, but wanted to post it where there was already active JBL 705P/708P discussions to help ensure it didn't get lost in the noise, so that everyone who could benefit from this new free software sees details about it.

Cheers

-Jonathon
