In some ways yes. There's downsides too of course. Not much placement flexibility, wall cavities aren't exactly designed to be a speaker enclosure, upgrades require drywall repair or just going bigger, studs restrict horizontal space available, among others.
Also it's more difficult to find ones that measure well. One, because there are simply fewer that have been properly measured as they aren't as popular amongst the hifi crowd, and they require special techniques and equipment. Two, many of them simply aren't built with sound quality foremost in mind. Instead, they're designed for aesthetics and for custom installers' profit margins.
