Anthropic's Claude works pretty well at directed queries to come up with new things to listen to - he/it came up with good suggestions repeatedly when asked "what are some lesser-known Blue Note albums recorded by Rudy Van Gelder?" Some I knew, of course, but many new/deeper oeuvre albums.

This is because it knows them all, and you might not... :-)

I read today there is going to be a new Tone Poet reissue of Nat King Cole's After Midnight: The Complete Sessions. If you don't know this album - check it out in its current digital version on the streaming platforms. Even the original vinyl LP is very, very good. The new reissue should be pretty great, the Tone Poet releases always seem to be good. J. Lohmann, if you don't know this one, check it out. I think it would be in your wheelhouse. Cole was a fine musician, which got a little lost on many folks after hearing his Christmas songs for the millionth time. This album is relaxed but has great musicians throughout. Nice blend of vocals/instrumental too.

Article about the re-release.

Very cool brand new album from Challenge Records, which typically has very nice recordings. (This one is 24-bit lossless on the streams.)

In Motion from Andreas Mader and Pit Brosius. Not exactly jazz, not exactly classical. Much of it reminds me of the vibe of the classic Stan Getz Focus album.

From their news release: "New arrangements place the saxophone at the heart of an intimate chamber ensemble, revealing fresh perspectives on familiar works while celebrating the instrument’s remarkable expressive range. Inspired by the idea that “time, like the tide, its motion keeps,” the album unfolds as a journey of energy, elegance and constant transformation."
