- Blue Train (1957)
- Giant Steps (1960)
- My Favorite Things (1961)
- A Love Supreme (1965) - this is the start of Coltrane's late-career explorations - more spiritual and free-form; the later albums are not everyone's cup of tea (me included) but A Love Supreme is it's own thing, peaceful and wonderful and meditative
Coltrane, like Miles, is always changing; this period of time a different path than Miles in the same period, but equally dynamic...
Perhaps I should have been more precise with regard to my preferences in the genre; we (the wife and I) tend to lean towards more soft jazz styles -- think "Girl From Ipanema" and Diana Krall's "S'wonderful."
