Jazz ♫ Music only | In the now, or recently, or that you love...

I've been listening to nine years of the Detroit Jazz Festival that I recorded for NPR back in the 90s and recently transferred from DAT to .wav files.

Dave Brubeck, Ahmad Jamal, McCoy Tyner, Stanley Turrentine, Carla Bley, Jay McShann, Sir Roland Hanna, James Carter, Geri Allen, Oliver Lake, the Mingus Big Band, Brad Mehldau, Christopher Holliday, Danillo Perez, Chico Hamilton, Brecker Brothers, Harper Brothers, Thunder Wallace, Louis Smith, Jimmy Smith & Kenny Burrell, Larry Coryelle & Donald Harrison, etc..

Plus a lot of local musicians who used to belong to the Funk Brothers and hung around Detroit playing Jazz after Motown left town.

Early recordings of Craig Taborn and Gerald Cleaver when they were still in college.

And likely the only recording of Pistol Allen (Motown drummer) playing with Jaribu Shahid (Art Ensemble of Chicago bassist)

I don't own the copyrights for any of this material, so unfortunately I'm unable to share it.

Brecker Brothers in the 90's you say? As in with Mike Stern, and Weckle? I'm fairly certain you wouldn't break any laws if you happened to - "by accident" - attach a few of them .wav files to an email to me - LOL.
