In chronological order:

1) Homemade #1 (@ ~~12 years old)12" extended range, plucked out of a Console radio).

2) Homemade #2 (same with two more speakers added, the 3 aimed in different directions; this is when I discovered that different speakers could have very different sensitivities -- but I called "sensitivity" "efficiency," in those days).

3) JBL D130 15" "extended range"

, with a nice big peak around 100 Hz, good, tight, clean powerful bass (except nowhere near flat -- built by my dad, a master carpenter; still have one in the rear of our music room -- no speaker in it -- as a memorial to him). That old system used a JBL 075 tweeter

Audyssey flattens response, including through the grille cloth covered wall and the AT projection screen combined.

Humm ... well I've been using speakers for a long time. I don't do much speaker swapping but because of the length of time I've been at it, more than the majority here

Approximately in order of acquisition:
= Some small, cheap Realistic <<
= Dynaco A25 @
= Dynaco A10 %, (gifted to my now late mother and reacquired by me after her passing)
= AR 7
= AR 5
= Braun L710 @
= Realistic Minimus 7 %
= Ohm F @
= B&W DM7 <<
= Boston Acoustics, don't recall the model
= Crappy DIYs made by a neighbor <<
= Paradigm Atom V.3 %
= Some small, cheap subwoofer, I don't recall the make/model
= Paradigm Mini Monitor V.3 %
= PSB Subsonic 12 subwoofer %
= Magneplanar MMG
= PSB Subsonic 10 subwoofer %
= Magneplanar MG 1.6QR @
= DIY center channel of my own design %
= DIY of my own design using Dayton Reference drivers %
= DIY Zaph Audio ZRT, ('Zaph Revelator Tower'), with minor mods % @
= Pioneer SP-BS22-LR as my computer speakers %.

% = still own; @ = favorites and/or most regretted selling; << = really awful speakers

My wife, daughter, and son have used/are using computer speakers of my selection; don't recall the several make & models. Otherwise that's about all.

main system from 1967 to present

AR4x
KLH 5
Thiel CS2
Waveform Mach 17
Dynaudio LYD48

Desktop systems from 90s onward

Boston Acoustics A40
Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 system
Audioengine A5
Audioengine HD6

TV system from 3-4 years ago

Audioengine HD6

No duds in all those years. No urge to change speakers now either.

Holy cow, I just spotted that you had Waveform Mach 17s!

Those for many are truly end-game speakers. What did you think of them and do you still own them? (Most owners won’t part with them which is one reason they are super rare in the used market)

Great thread.

Altec Lansing computer speakers
PSB Alpha Mini
PSB Alpha
NHT super one
Von Schweikert VR-5 (partly HSE)
PSB subsonic 8 (or 10 or 12?)
Audio engine (???)
NHT M-00
Focal computer speaker
KEF Eggs
Focal Solo 6be
Von Schweikert VR3.5 export blah blah edition
Genelec 8010
Edifier (???)
KEF LSX
KEF LS50w
Apple Homepods (9)
Genelec 8341 (current)
Genelec 7360 x2 (current)
KEF LS50W2 (current)

I’m done. Maybe not. Might have to trade in the 8341 for 8351 since it doesn’t exactly power a midfield system at the levels I want.

Maybe Genelec W371 one day if Santa Claus is being nice to me.

Hard to imagine what can be better than these. Audio and video have reached near end game in our lifetimes. Self emissive displays can get brighter with higher color volume (QD-OLED or micro led). As for audio probably louder and more efficient. Maybe beamforming output which tracks the listener(s) and beams to each ear of each listener.

I really can’t think of what else can be done at this point. Maybe that could be another thread where we predict what the next level would be.

I owned them for about 18-20 years. In theory, they were the best speakers that I've owned.

I got tired of all the cables and boxes and wanted to simplify them. I bought a pair of 3-way Dynaudio LYD48 active monitors and found them to be quite satisfactory. I posted on ASR offering the Waveforms for free but didn't get an immediate positive response from a local. I also posted on a local to me audiophile group on Facebook and got several takers. I chose one who seemed likely to appreciate the speakers rather than just resell them. I threw in the ATi amp as well.

This is in a span of 43 years. Not that many, considering.

Scott S176. My first system at age 13. Two way bookshelf speakers with 8” woofers.
DIY 3-way with Radio Shack 12” woofers, Pyle Driver midranges and piezo tweeters. My father built the cabinets. Used them mostly for my DJ business (in high school). Nice and loud and made me a fair amount of money.
Paradigm 7. Bought these with a NAD 3020a to bring to college with me.
Fried Q4 (I think, may be wrong on the model).
Linn Kan II
Vienna Acoustic Mozart
Dynaudio Evoke 10

The last 4 I still own. The Fried and the Linn are 32 years old, the Vienna are 19, and the Dynaudio are new. The Vienna are in regular use in a second home, and the Linn in an office.

Cheers,

Antonio

Awesome!

I auditioned those speakers at John Otvos' own house.

That's insane that nobody jumped on them here!

And I seem to remember coming across your post about the Waveforms.

Then again, I wouldn't have grabbed them either as they are too big for my room and I wouldn't want the added cabling/amps either.
But I was utterly smitten with the Waveform Mach Solo (smaller passive version) speakers I had in my home for a review. I'd occaisionally think over the years that I shouldn't have let those go. But they are ridiculously rare on the used market. On pair finally came up for sale at an incredibly low price, and it was even local to me so I could have driven them home in my car, but it happened to come at a moment of bad finances so I had to pass them up. Still bugs me.
