We all can be relieved that instead no additional finger is inserted ... but the question remains: What's the reason?

Also Considering Altering Titles to reflect the change. e.g. "The Man With The Golden Stun Gun" or "Pepperball".

maybe guns in usa the amount of shootings and someone clearly ( like myself believes guns should be banned ) well they only bring misery which is true , but come on amazon this is taking it a ( well after-all it is a fictional character ) oh i wonder what broccoli and micheal wilson think of this move by amazon ?

And there are still people who believe that we are not censored. The Western hemisphere has developed into a social policing room worse than any state control could ever enforced. I seriously pity the younger generations.

Corporate decision. No one made an uproar, they did it themselves. Not censorship. No more than when a company CGI'ed guns out of federal agent's hands in a movie.

Stupid and needless, but not censorship. Not in the technical "only the government can censor" sense, nor in the "cancel culture"/social pressure sense.

After all, he's "licensed to kill"!

I assume it's just the Amazon image and not the real poster? A reproduction poster doesn't have a lot of value to begin with and an inaccurate one is probably worthless.

A few months ago I was watching an episode of Get Smart (which if you don't know was a spy comedy TV series in the 1960s). In that episode I think about 5 people were shot (and killed) in the 1st five minutes. I think it was this show where one of the spy gadgets was a gun that fired in 3 directions at once and 3 people were shot at once. It was a comedy so they didn't show blood or anything... They just died quickly and quietly. Not nearly the "action" of John Wick.

Then in the 1980s we had The A-Team where there was a LOT of automatic gunfire every week, cars crashing and getting flipped-over, occasional grenade explosions or and other explosions but NOBODY ever got killed. A few times one of the good guys got wounded but I don't think the good guys ever shot anybody.

Maybe it's now a license to kill the viewer's last brain cell :p

Amazon acquired creative control of the Bond film franchise in February 2025. Select titles were individually released on 4K disc in September 2025 and their artwork makes use of the logo of the number '007'and a gun:

if they did the cartoon a team now , everyone gets blown to smithereens and killed with blood spattering the screen to shock children

what digital fantasy world are we living in now ? i say no to it as it major sucks , lets have general worldwide vote on this shall we ?

No, thank you.

Strange to conceive for me the justification for sanitizing what is a historical document from popular culture. Seems to make lie now, perhaps in a minor way, but still off-putting. How about let us see who we really were then. I mean I was genuinely taken back at the open smoking in Madmen when it first came on, and also a scene with a pregnant woman drinking. Genuine artists working that show at least.

Probably someone at Amazon decided they wanted the covers/posters to be more "family friendly" or some such, thinking it would allow for more sales or whatever. Silly, but crying about "censorship" over it is even more silly.

The picture quality provided by my Pioneer Laserdisc player was impressive for its time. I was disappointed I could hear the rotation of the silver disc during quiet passages. I will enjoy the Bond releases I already own.
