Is Wiim Amp Ultra upgrade over Yamaha AS701?

AS701 already has a subwoofer output. And it is as simple as running roomfit on WiiM mini and reach down to turn a few knobs on the sub to get the same outcome.
How exactly should the subwoofer and high-pass filter for the speakers be set up on the A-S701?
And which controls do you intend to adjust?

It's a real shame that Yamaha simply included a subwoofer output without any further functionality. That's a real indictment of their design and no better than many cheaper amplifiers.
It's pretty pointless to run the main speakers across the entire frequency range.
Yamaha could learn a thing or two from the Wii M's capabilities in this regard.

So what does that tell us?
Seeing something with a 50% discount and actually buying it are often two completely different things. Especially with current WiiM products, a used device is rarely worth it. Even on eBay, these devices are rarely sold used for less than the asking price.

On eBay, used Yamaha A-S701s have sold for €251-400 in the last two years. One even went for €450.
Yamaha A-S1000 and A-S1100 models have sold for €400-650. I paid €470 for my absolutely mint-condition A-S1000, including the original box and all accessories.
On average, though, the discount is 50% of the new price or less. This is true for most other brands as well.
I wouldn't call them Yamaha Gold (unfortunately). Receivers from the Advantage series are a completely different story; they are sometimes traded like gold.

Besides, conventional amplifiers are quite large and often heavy, which is another point to consider.
Anyone want a WiiM ultra? Only 3 months old in its original box. Can take the price down to 150 with some sweet talks to the seller. That’s a 45% loss for the seller just in 3 months and an infinite gain if you are a WiiM fan ;)

For that, the OP would have to upgrade to R-N800A. It has everything in the world and even FM/AM radio that real “audiophiles” crave for ;).

But no highpass. For use with LS50, this is quite crucial.
I run my LS50 Meta full spectrum and filling its anemic <80hz with a sub. Sounds great in my setup. And I did not like the HPF from my WiiM ultra. It creates weird voids in bass frequencies.

Try buying that without getting scammed, good luck.
A well-known trick for buyers who get ripped off.

Exactly buying a WiiM in the first place is a rip off in itself. Only the owners know ;)
Exactly, especially since you're working for free and don't want to be paid for your services.
Sorry, but that's just empty talk, especially since the WiiMs offer by far the best value for money. By far.

These people have absolutely no idea how much development time and know-how goes into such products and what WiiM has achieved and built. Aside from the mammoth software development project, it also takes a lot to develop and produce such complex devices, which so far have run relatively smoothly and are constantly being improved, especially the software.
Many major manufacturers have failed miserably at this so far, including Yamaha. This comes from me as a longtime Yamaha fan who still owns several of their devices.
I'm not exactly a WiiM fan either, but having set up several WiiMs, as well as some streamers that cost many times more, I can attest to their excellent functionality.

By now, it should be clear to everyone that we have very different levels of knowledge and experience, so further discussion is pointless.

@dankandi I hope you were able to take something away from the discussion. I'm not a fan of devices as heavily integrated as the WiiM Ultra AMP, and would rather have a WiiM Ultra and an A7.
But the WiiM Ultra AMP is now in the possession of several friends, and since Christmas, it's also been in the possession of someone who swapped their A-S701 for it and is absolutely satisfied with how it drives their Heco Aurora 1000 speakers.

So, the choice is yours.

So are you paid by WiiM? Heco Aurora 1000 Is not LS50. Do you even know what you are comparing with? A 93db sensitive speaker to a 83db nominal?

So you heard someone satisfied with their WiiM just through word of mouth? And accuse a real LS50 and Yamaha and WiiM user who has first hand experience? LOL… what a forum ;)

It's quite obvious you didn't read my previous post.

There are differences between manufacturer specifications and reality.
The Aurora 1000s have a sensitivity of just under 90 dB and an impedance of 3.3 ohms. My A-S1000 drove them quite well, but the A30a and A7 do a slightly better job.

In my circle of acquaintances, there are over 10 pairs of LS50s and Metas, almost all of them connected to A7 and A30a amplifiers, even though many of them previously had completely different and significantly more expensive amplifiers.
Personally, I don't like the LS50 Meta as much, but I've heard it compared to a Satorique 1, which is a bit unfair.

Again, you do not have any first hand experiences with any of the gear OP is talking about. Who’s arguments are wasteful here?

This is getting ridiculous.
You've already shown that you don't know much about this. Just stick to your preconceived notions, because I think you're the one who has no experience with these kinds of devices.
But that's entirely your loss.

Certainly, do you know if I can buy a multimeter from aliexpress?
What you need no one is selling. You dont hear nearly as good as you think, kinda standard for audiophools, and it would take 5 minutes of a blind test to prove it if your overblown ego didnt stop you from trying a proper one.

Thanks for the deep dive analysis into my brain cell and clay matter. You seem to be the right neurologist I was searching for. Now, can I buy a multimeter from aliexpress?
