is Topping Pre90 needed after a D90 DAC?

hi,

I just bought a used Topping D90. I'll use it to connect my streamer connected via USB. I will be feeding the new AsciLab C8C active speakers via XLR analog.
My question is whether I need to add a preamp like a Topping Pre90 or if the preamp within the D90 is sufficient? I'm not sure if the D90 internal preamp is a good option vs using a dedicated one?
What would be the advantage of having a separate preamp?

About the only practical advantage of a separate preamp is the ability to switch between different sources. If you only have one source then you don’t need it.

thanks. I will have two sources, one connected via USB to the D90 and the other via coax. Won't I be able to switch source through the D90?
