Is there a subwoofer that can powered on and off with remote control or windows app?

Basically, I want to get a subwoofer for my Genelec 8030c, and have the option to turn it on at certain times, without having to crouch under my desk to turn it on and off? Is this even possible?

The speakers will be connected to the subwoofer I suppose.

I don't think this is possible with the Genelec subwoofer unless you power it on and off physically every time?

Since the subwoofer would be connected to my Motu ultralite mk5, I could simply mute it there, but wouldn't this mute the speakers as well? as speakers would be connected to the subwoofer

The SVS subwoofers have an app to control them

Any subwoofer with "Trigger In" port will do the trick for you. All you need to figure out is some source which you control from your phone and which has "Trigger Out". This by turning on the source, the subwoofer will receive the signal and turn on as well. If you don't have a sub with Trigger In, then there are adaptors with Trigger In which are powered from the mains and pass the power to the equipment on the triggering event.

Now if you have a trigger splitter, you can make all the audio equipment to turn on at once. For example, I don't even have to raise from the lounge to turn on two subs and the speakers amp when I wish to listen to something. All thanks to this triggering system. And now having WiiM with Trigger Out as source with auto sensing TOSLINK and auto shutdown, I no longer touch power controls of any audio component in my room at all. Everything turns on on its own as soon as there is an audio signal and turns off in 15 minutes when it's gone.

I'm just too lazy to walk around and turn on/off everything manually.

Here is a simple connectivity diagram with triggers but you can adjust anything based on your imagination.

sounds like a lot of trouble lol

You should be able mute individual channels in your Motu mixer. So for e.g. your subwoofer is connected to Channel 3, and your speakers to Channels 1 and 2, all you need to do is mute Channel 3 when you don't want your sub. That's what I do with my RME.

That's from the Ultralite Mk5 manual here.

I thought speakers connected to subwoofer tho

Many of active subwoofers have dedicated "IR remote controllers", don't they??

I use L&R active subwoofers, YAMAHA YST-SW1000, which has IR remote for power on/off, output mute, LP-filter XO-Fq up/down, gain up/down, polarity normal/reverse.

As for the tentative "mute" of subwoofer sound (L, R, L&R), I can do it in many ways;

1. use the remote controller's "mute button",
2. use the multichannel DAC=OKTO DAC8PRO 's subwoofer-feeding channel muting,
3. use the specific output channels (for subwoofers) mute buttons in system-wide DSP "EKIO" on the PC monitor screen.

I got a few of this one, see red arrow, for lights and fans etc. Works perfect with Smart Life app, paid 179 baht/ 5 usd each. Box is 6 x 6 cm so they aint that big

The speakers will be connected to the subwoofer I suppose.

In this case, the SP out from the subwoofer is just through-out of the SP-high-level input signal into subwoofer which is not under the power on/off nor "mute" control of the subwoofer sound, doesn't it??

My subwoofer has a 12v trigger input; although, as with everything else, this puts it into standby, rather than being fully off, as when you unplug it, or use a physical switch.

I'm not sure how many other subwoofers have a similar feature.

If your speakers get their output from the subwoofer, then turning your subwoofers off also means you won't be able to listen to your speakers.

Do what I suggested. Speakers into Channels 1 and 2 of your Motu, and subwoofers into Channel 3. Set your Motu to send Channels 1 and 2 to Channel 3 (not sure if Motu software can do that, you might want to check! Otherwise, third party software will be able to do it). When you want to mute your sub, just mute Channel 3.

I assume, or almost believe, too often too frequent main power on/off would not be safe and feasible in any kind of audio gear...
We should use, if available, simple tentative "mute" button/function instead of main power on/off.

I don't know if that's possible. Also subwoofers don't have one cable that just connects to one port. How are you supposed to connect the subwoofer with? what kind of cable

My motu butt

Speakers obviously connected to Main out 1 and 2

Maybe just a smart plug would be easiest for your use.

This is the answer. I have smart plugs, smart switches and smart bulbs all over and outside my house. All controlled by saying "Alexa turn on|off device name" or just tapping a button in the app. It is easy to have great wifi coverage for whatever size area you need to cover with a wifi mesh setup.
