The same happened with the Chord DAVE, reviewers were gushing over it and how it was like no other and again magical, yet Amir called it out for what it is. Overpriced and no better than any other well-built DAC that can cost much less!

I view the DAVE in a different light, as once you get passed say 104 SINAD a dac is, is a dac, is a dac. The dac issue has been solved. Speakers on the other hand...Amir actually recommends the Wilson Tune Tot ...at $10k?!!!! The DAVE is jewlery - like my McIntosh - I could give them up for say Buckeye, but I won't. The Wilson issue is an anomaly, something that doesn't possess the best measurements, but sounds decent after equalization...even at its' cost. I'm not a Wilson fan boy, but I do gravitate to speakers that demonstrate high dynamic range with low distrtortion, when seated in the mid to far-field as I do little to no nearfield listening.

It only weighs 124lbs per speaker, so it's light enough to go on the Klippel.

I looked them up to see if Stereophile measured them ...measurements don't look that good. However, in some ways - they seem to measure similar (of course this one measurement doesn't tell the full story....but that one measurement - might say that some of these dips may be baked into the enginnering. I'm familiar with speakers that have a "House sound".

Is it marketing or delusion or just hoodwinking. The kudos and mysticism that goes with this brand is unbelievable. They are fancy cabinets yes, and I'm sure there's a lot of R&D about them, but certain 'audiophile crowds' place these on a very high pedestal, when there's not really anything uber special. They still use conventional drive units and a box design. Probably buy better drive units for much less too.

Maybe if I had stupid money I couldn't spend then maybe I'd buy a set too, to show off to friends having dinner parties, I'm sure they sound alright, but for the rest of us with some sense, you can get as good for way less.

I enjoy the odd round of Wilson bashing, but I heard a nice system with Wilson Sophias, the predecessors of the Sabrinas, some years ago.

A relatively simple three-way is perhaps more difficult to mess up than a seven-foot-tall, 12-driver monstrosity.
