Is it okay to use UMIK-1 for REW with 25' USB cable???

I'm using beta 112. I don't see the option.

Thank you for the effort to create and upload the pic. It wasn't clear to me that doesn't just play the file to the default output.

So that should be added to the procedure: once you've generated the sweep file and copied it to where you want to play it back, use "From File" to load that file again so that REW knows how to compute the impulse response from the recorded sweep.

I don't have a good way, my preamp doesn't have a USB input. I suppose I could use a aux to rca cables or something like that. But I think if possible, rather play audio from the desktop since that's the same as when listening to music.

I appreciate your help! The info about exporting the tones is perfect, big help!
You could test the different USB cable lengths.
Get REW going with a short cable. Record a sweep of a speaker, any speaker. Move one of your mains over to the mic if you have to. Or just measure in the room from wherever you can. Without moving the mic between runs, add a cable extension. Make another recording of the eact same sweep, the long USB cable being the only thing that changes between runs. Evaluate the differences. Use tools like DeltaWave to view residual differences. Also post the files here to get help. This will answer your question, cost nothing unless you don't have USB extension cables. :)
I use passive 15' USB cable from BlueJeans, and a 25' cable I got from Amazon, both work great with my computer. Your mileage may vary, which is why you should test this out with your gear.

I had exactly the same problem as you with the large room and I wanted to do a flexdsp with Dirac on my laptop. I got a

Perfect! I got a Monoprice USB extension cable as well, so glad to hear it should work. I'm still waiting on the UMIK-1 to arrive, so haven't got to test it out yet. Thanks for letting me know!

I've been using a 5m usb extension cord connected to a short usb cable connected to the umik 1 right from the start. For years.

Understood and that was the way I was going to go but then I thought about how much time I was putting into this project and along with downloading the Dirac Live function I just did not want any hardware surprises.
