Is DSD native vs DoP determined by DAC or implementation

If i stream a dsd file from my network via roon and run it through a matrix mini-i pro3, the roon audio path shows it is played natively.
If i stream the same dsd file from my network via roon and run it through a hifi rose 250, the roon audio path shows it is converted to PCM / DoP.
Both players have the same dac ES9038Q2M.

I thought the conversion or not was due to ASIO pc drivers (Assuming dac is capable of playing natively). Is the hifi rose a less robust design?

I prefer not to get into the debate of why it matters and whether or not i will hear a difference, i am just trying to understand why.

Thanks

So you are not streaming DSD.

A computer will only play a DSD file, PCM / DoP.

DoP is a method for transporting DSD audio over USB ports that do not have a DSD driver.

As computers cannot play a DSD file...

you are correct. The dac in my computer cannot play dsd. dop or otherwise.
I am streaming the dsd file from my nas via the roon on my pc to my streamer (either matrix mini-i or the audio rose).
Roon shows the audio path via the matrix to be dsd natively. Via the Rose, it is converted to dop. The two streamers have the same internal dac so my question would be why would it be one could do it natively while the other has to convert to pcm

roon could be incorrect. But its not.

Both units state (in their manuals) they can play dsd natively but the rose comes up as dop in roon. this is confirmed by an answer to a rose forum post response that roon is correct.
So, back to my question. is it the unit hardware design or firmware? What i am trying to discern is could this be fixed via an firmware update or wont ever happen without a hardware design. Yes, i should find out directly from rose (i have asked the question, but have not received an answer) but thought it was worth asking the question here as this forum has some very knowledgeable people.
