Is Anthem overrated? Considering switching to Denon

1.Did you upgrade the board yourself or did you have to send it in?
2. Did you pay for shipping or did they?
3. How long did it take?
4. Was it free of charge to upgrade the board?

Just curious. I get the anthem allure. I still have my mrx500.
1) send it in
2) it was during a warranty repair so they paid for the shipping in that case. But you would have to pay for it generally.
3) it was 4-6 weeks including the warranty repair.
4) no. I paid for the upgraded board.

All software upgrades including ARCG version upgrades are free.

I just did a cursory search and Anthems website has instructions for upgrading the board yourself. So it looks like you can do it yourself now. https://manuals.anthemav.com/8k-upgrade/

Mucho gracias!

Well you're not a problem for the AVR maker's profits :D

As for Denon (AVR-X3600H) versus Anthem (AVM 70 + ATI 525NC) we felt the sound was excellent, and now it's...excellent! The image of the sound has a different shape, if that makes any sense. Different, not $6k better. The ARC I do feel does a quite good job, better than Audyssey default (with the Audyssey App I call it a tie maybe with a bit of edge to ARC). The setup on the Anthem was more of a pain in the butt-I gotta make a Google Home account WHY?!? Oh, so Google can target me adds for cable risers I guess. Gee why can't I just find the network in the setup menu and input the password like a Denon. I *think* ARC can store multiple positions onboard unlike Audyssey.
No company is making head over heals profit in audiophile and home theater products anymore. These companies like Anthem's parent organization have spent years and millions producing ARC room correction. If these companies wanted to be in the business of "profit" they would stay the hell out of this business.

People are buying soundbars not AVR or separates. Sad but true reality. Look at what is happening to Sound United and VOX organizations. They are not making sustainable revenue based on the cost of doing business (RD, marketing, manufacturing, etc.)
