Is a Volume Bypass Feature on an Amplifier Better than Maximum Volume?

I want to Bi-amp my desktop speakers (Monsoon M-1000) and a yet to be designed 80-300Hz speaker module. Signal path will be Computer Audio to Atom Dac2 to Mini DSP Flex Eight (so I can control my crossover), sub out to powered sub, and two stereo desktop amps. Desktop amps that have volume bypass are not common (Topping PA7, 3E Audio A5). I know I can just turn the volume knob to max, but is there something better about volume bypass?
I am trying to keep my footprint small, so no plan to use a multichannel amp or receiver.
