Introduction of Vera Audio Coherence 12 - a high quality speaker many can afford

so it plays up to 5kHz from basically the floor?
No equalisation? How do you explain the ruler flat response from 70Hz-5KHz?

But very nice!
I need to investigate why it's flat so high in frequency. But the eveness in the rest of the response is not a surprise based on previous protos. Quality driver and a good design.

Why 4 lines for 2 drivers?
Not sure what you mean by "4 lines". Most likely you're referring to the rear port and two venting holes for the plate amplifier. That's three though. Or did you mean something else?

The speakon cable (attachement in my last post) fans out to 4 lines, like for a 4 way speaker.

Oh I see. That's because it's an active design that requires amplifiers to each driver.

So positive and negative wires from the full range driver to one stereo amp and the same to the woofer. Or simply use one 4-channel amp. An external DSP is also required with the external amp solution.

It will also be possible to buy it with a Hypex plate amplifier. Same here: one stereo amp to the full range driver and one stereo amp to the woofer. The Hypex has built in DSP.

Active has several benefits over a passive speaker.

Awesome looking concept, and very lovely design! Would you be willing to send one to Amir or Erin for review? It would be awesome to see them reviewed by them. :)

This is a speaker that can't be measured with Klippel as far as I know. Apart from the size, it requires some distance.

How to measure and present the vertical directivity of this speaker is also discussable. IMO it makes more sense to measure the vertical over a reflective surface because how the speaker is designed. Most likely we'll present vertical measurements of both.

The most important factor is to present measurements, and which we will do.

Do you mean measuring distance? Isn't one of the beauties of the NFS method that it can compute the response at any distance without needing to measure at such?

The measurement of the woofer in near field was incorrect. Some poor gain matching creeped in. I apologize.
It's still very even with no EQ, but not ruler flat and level drops above 2.5 KHz. New proper measurements will be shown.

Yes, measuring distance because the two drivers don't sum in near field. If it can do that, it will work and remains to see how it will handle the floor situation. Or that needs to be measured separately.

Ron Sauro and NWWA labs could also measure the speaker.

Since this is still a speaker in development, I'll might as well show you the present near field measurement of the woofer. If it will get improved, I'll post it later.

But here's an overlay at different levels of the woofer in near field (speaker out on the floor). 1/24 Octave smoothing and showing it will two different resolutions. No EQ for sure.

Yes, NFS can compute the addition for any desired distance.

This is exactly the benefit of the Klippel system. Because of it's measuring system the sound field and directivity can be shown at any specified distance.
So you could thereby verify if the design solves the floor bounce you wish to avoid.

Getting the speaker on the Klippel might be a different challenge altogether, haha!

If you're interested, you should contact Amir or Erin. ;)

That's great. Will contact one of them when we're ready. From what I've heard you can get an additional part/platform to fit bigger speakers on the Klippel.

There are also few Klippel NFS sources in Europe who do some paid measurements, even Klippel itself in Dresden in case someone wants to avoid the risk and expenses of sending over the sea.

The Vera Audio Coherence 12 is now finished in development. There's some slight different tuning with the crossover that will be tested, but nothing that will make any significant changes. The speaker sounds great and measures very even placed in a room.

We're opening now up for pre-orders. Prices for parts and shipping have increased some and the currency is different but we're offering the speaker with some discount for those who pre-orders and also free asssitance with tuning in your room.

$5299 excl VAT and excl shipping for a pair including miniDSP Flex balanced
$6199 excl VAT and excl shipping for a pair including Hypex FA252 plate amplifier

The prices are for either 100% piano black finish or piano black finish with the top part in Amercian walnut veneer. Similar to the picture below. Need to come back with price for veneer of the whole speaker but that is going to be higher.

Custom finishes is possible.

I will come back with a link to a pre-order webpage. On the webpage it's only going to be possible with 100% payment. But we can arrange payment with wire transfer if customer only wants to pre-pay 60% or higher now and the rest before delivery. Delivery is likely to be in end of August. So about 5 months lead time. That's worth the wait with such high quality speaker at this price!

Pictures of how they are placed now. Fairly close to the front wall.

Great job. Really like the looks of your speaker.

Can you share the other measurements, aka width, height and depth?

Certainly. Dimensions of the cabinet alone is approximately: 50.1 cm (19.72") wide x 25.3 cm (9.96") deep. Height with base and feet is about 126.5 cm (49.80"). The base is about 59 cm (23.22") at the widest (outer feet) and 35.2 cm (13.85") in depth.
